Looks like the Establishment loses yet another election for state chair of a political party.

La plus ca change....
If you think Reid machine will simply accept state chair results, well, check the quote below via a Dem operative close to the party who would know: "..the Reid machine is not the central committee..Unfortunately, there's no real choice but to work around the party."

Away we go!
Heard from folks close to two Dem legislative caucuses, not thrilled new state chair said she would take power away from them and mused about primarying electeds. The caucuses also are big $ folks for the party. Reminds me of GOP operatives in '12 forming separate party org.
Of course it's no coincidence that I am receiving all these messages. It's Reid machine choreography at its finest. Story as old as time (and me): Activists with passion and no idea how to win vs. pragmatic folks who have made the Dems here incredibly successful.

Hours before the Clark County Commission will vote to change the name of the Vegas airport to bear Harry Reid's name, the Review-Journal, owned by the family of the late Sheldon Adelson, endorses it:
"Harry Reid is as prominent a Nevadan as there ever was. He deserves the honor."
The headline on the editorial is as bland as can be: "County Commission to tackle McCarran name change"

And it is only in the last sentence that the newspaper gets to what the headline really is: The newspaper that once endorsed Sharron Angle is on board.

Vegas gambler Billy Walters had his sentence for insider trading commuted. He was a huge campaign donor and his commutation supported by an ex senator, an ex-gov, an ex-congresswoman, an ex-sheriff, pro golfers and...Lara Logan, who did a fluff 60 Minutes piece on him.

My favorite Billy Walters story is he was on my TV show, didn't like my line of questioning, called me a "motherfucker" during the break, apologized during a later break, then tried to get me fired after the show.

Fun dude.
One of the best pieces ever done on Walters was by @BetsBarnes, who captured the man, his relationships (including with the former sheriff who supported his commutation) and his political donations/influence.

This is a very nice remembrance montage to start things off. Damn, it's sad how many great Nevadans were lost last year.
Dem gov chooses GOP SOS, who stood up for what was right during assault on elections, to say the pledge of allegiance, which many of her GOP colleagues ignored since Nov. 3.

Priceless.
The speech has begun. We are at the "Here's all the great stuff we did before....you know" part.

Veteran GOP assemblyman John Ellison of Elko gave a simply bonkers interview Weds. about what happened in DC in which he says the election was stolen and blames Antifa for the riot in the Capitol. "I think you've just seen the death of a country...It started right here in NV."

Name is mangled more than once and 56 House members object to results.

No senator objects, so Biden win here stands.

APPLAUSE.
That was Brooks from Alabama who objected and said 55 others did, too.

He also cannot pronounce the state's name.

But, to be fair, Pence nailed it!
This formally ends what was started by Adam Laxalt and the Trump campaign, abetted by the state GOP and given sustenance by outside grifters Ric Grenell and Matt Schlapp.

Laxalt should never again be taken seriously in the state he moved to to run for office. Period.
