One community which doesn't deserve the pedestal it is placed upon is the Mizo. Look at the recent controversy. The don't want a non-local to head education department it seems.
Seems justified right? Whenever a non-Mizo comes, there will be problems in allotment of seats to Mizos - that's what they are saying. But, what's the catch? The non-locals we are talking about here is the Hindu residents of Mizoram, the Bru.
For them, some Myanmarese terrorists have more right to stay in Mizoram than the Hindu Bru/Chakma.
But, they are not ready to allow the Bru who fled into Tripura due to the attitude of the Mizos.
They may argue Chin are like us. But the question is this. What do "like us" mean? Of the same ethnic stock like us, or Christians like us?
But, looking across the state border in Meghalaya, another tribal-christian state, we get a hunch it's religion and not tribal affiliation.
Nicely cloaked as Mizo but read it as christian. This is with respect to the Myanmarese police who crossed over into India following the military coup. And this is after Myanmar categorically said hosting them will hurt the relationship between the countries.
Just think about it. When Haryana said 75% local reservations, we jumped up and down. Here we have a state which is not ready to even accept as its residents, those who are not like the majority tribe and are violently ejected out just because they refused to convert.
It's political unions feel they are more bonded with the terrorists across the border and are ready to hurt relations between India and Myanmar, and not with those who resided traditionally inside its own state borders. Not evenna whimper of protest from us?

Today is Mahashivaratri. And did you ever hear about this false Sivalinga? When Pandyan Empire collapsed and was open to plunder by the Muslims, Antaralayas of both Srirangam and Madurai were sealed with a false wall to hide the Moola Virat.
In Madurai, they planted a false Sivalinga just outside the wall and the Muslims fell for it. The testimony of their brutality is clearly seen through the number of blows this idol got. Remember and cherish what your ancestors did for you make you a proud Hindu.
When the false wall was broken open on the orders of Kumara Kampana after killing the last Madurai Sultan, they found the flowers which garlanded Sundareshwara still afresh and Chandrahasa, the ceremonial sword of the Pandyans was placed before him.
Just because you wish it away doesn't mean caste doesn't exist in Islam. Fact: Birth based segregation in Islam is as old as Islam. By the way, why is it that till the time Sauds came why is it that the Imam of Mecca was always from the same tribe?
By the way, I never knew right wing Hindutva ruled medieval Azerbaijan or Mecca.
Bad news: Fatwas don't come out of thin air. They are the outcome of interpretation and application of Islamic jurisprudence for a specific case. Care to let us know what constitutes Islamic Law?
Let me tell you of an incident when Greenpeace was still legal in India. In a parking lot outside a super market, a Greenpeace guy accosts me and asks for some time to explain what he is doing. I was not busy and said OK. His proposition is this.
Coal pollutes and India should shutdown all thermal power plants. With a flourish, he produces a map of India and says these are all the areas where India has got coal plants and that they are launching a movement to shut them down. One single question from my side.
The belt you are showing is called Dandakaranya and is a thick forest. Whatever pollution these plants make are absorbed by the trees around and it won't harm environment. Now explain me why should I support your stand. Caught like a deer in headlights,
A reflection of what we people are always saying. And the esteemed General puts it succinctly. India's victory is not in taking land or crushing the military might of China. It's in stopping China from achieving it's objectives and forcing it to spend the whole winter there.
Whether you surrender a few hills or not, the lesson which either country learnt is this. China cannot maintain the position for a whole winter there. Even if it builds roads and sets up excellent facilities for it's troops, the reality is, the cost is prohibitive and
soldiers are not going to be happy. There are no train lines, there are no sufficient airbases(every plane taking off from Ngari can be shot down by Indian ground fire) and there are exactly three roads to reach there. Realization will not dawn on those sitting in Beijing.
The biggest flaw of CCPooh China is it is expansionist and is incapable to understand which countries can't fit into Chinese Mandala, thereby dissipating it's energy as like a wave against rocks. The tide comes and the sea retreats for the day.
And note, the more you try to bring in more Mandalas into Chinese orbit, the faster the dynastic cycle kicks in. Some strategist placed 2040 as the timeperiod for the next Dynastic cycle somewhere around 2005-2010 and the number doesn't seem to be off the mark.
In some cases, they say, time heals. China, Europe and Amreeka are some such examples. Have some patience. They will implode. You don't even need to kick that proverbial rotting door. All you need is some patience for a waiting game.
