3. "I will have questions about the census ... because we certainly think that that is a priority," said @commercedems Chair @SenatorCantwell, D-Wash.
4. Asked by Cantwell about the challenges that the census redistricting data delay are posing to states, Graves said: "I will absolutely work on that issue. I will also listen to the ... career experts ... & not allow politics to impact the accuracy and timeliness of the census."
5. @dgravesjr's confirmation hearing has ended. Any follow-up questions from Senate Commerce Committee members are due by March 24. That means a full Senate confirmation vote on Don Graves' nomination to be deputy commerce secretary could be held as early as late March.

You regular reminder that the 2020 census is not over yet — and the Biden administration is on track to have a permanent Cabinet-level official in place next month to oversee the release of the first set of numbers, which are expected in early March:

The delay means redistricting will also likely be delayed.

After Feb. 1, the Census Bureau is likely to have a new confirmed commerce secretary who intends to depoliticize the count and listen to its experts to ensure that 2020 census results are accurate.
