Just arrived at Jamison Square for this action tonight.
After last night, I really have no clue what to expect tbh.
A woman is here with a "give me your stimulus" sign and is causing quite the stir.
"I don't see anyone Black or brown" she said while pointing at the crowd.
This woman has no sense of allyship and keeps saying that "everyone is white."
Like, no.
One of them mentioned Black on Black crime and that didn't go over very well. Shocker.
From what I have gathered, they are upset with all of the glass being broken and are demanding, with their sign, that protesters hand over their stimulus checks for repairs?
Only in Portland.
The crowd is moving.
Tons of anti-press sentiment tonight. Seeing cameras and phones being swiped at.
A camera crew almost had their camera knocked over.
Being followed by a couple dozen bike cops
Someone threw a trash can and a cop took down his mask and yelled "that was weak"
Smashed windows around the corner
‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
We are apparently being detained?
We are being investigated for a crime. We are to not leave, sit down, stay, and comply with orders.
A few of us have been released as long as we showed our press passed with another valid ID.
It appears everyone else, over 150 people, will be arrested.
Of course Brandon Farley is over here
He left as soon as @gravemorgan asked for an interview and it was, frankly, hilarious.
To recap
A female officer steps forward and then asks a protester to "step back"
We're being pushed one block down where people "will be removed one at a time."
Currently at 15th and Marshall where we've been pushed back. Unsure what is happening within the crowd one block ahead.
PPB has put up tape.
Medics just arrived. Unsure the reason.
As people are leaving, they're taking people's photos and attaching duct tape on chests with full legal name and date of birth.
They're being escorted out one at a time.
Speaking to one of the most recent releases, it appears there will be mass arrests tonight.
I've moved over to 13th and Marshall
Since I have a minute to theorize let me say that I've seen this before — in Eugene.
A massive cataloging of protesters occurred over the months of June and July for events on May 29. EPD surveilled, followed people, and later arrested them.
What we are seeing here tonight
is a hypersonic version of that.
Instead, they, PPB, will catalog one by one as they release people.
Arrests will come over time.
Two arrests confirmed
Altercation in front of the Safeway. I believe I saw PepperBalls deployed but I couldn't hear. A medic is being called for someone injured.
As expected, people are pissed
I dont see any casings around so I'll retract the PepperBall deployment.
Just spoke to one protester who was handcuffed, placed in the paddy wagon, his stuff bagged, and then released.
They read off three charges included resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer (the third he didn't remember.)
He was released with his bag of stuff.
Man is upset that his car is within the detainment zone and gets physical with protesters.
An impassioned speech towards an officer
The music is on point
Hearing from @LauraJedeed who was one of the last two press to leave that there are about 20-25 protesters sitting, locked arms, in the middle of the detainment zone refusing to leave.
A trash can is aflame down the street
PPB rushed down Marshall and arrested one person that I can see.
Dustin is out and understandably irate.
The LRAD just tried to talk and then stopped.
This man is sobbing and seriously traumatized by what's unfolded this evening.
More officers have arrived with batons out
They're slowly leaving whenever an SUV can come by and pick them up.
In a turn of events, one of their SUVs won't start 🤦♂️😅
And a jump start gets it going
The last of PPB mounts a van, gets bottles thrown at them, and mace protesters as they ride off.
Apparently PPB ran over a speaker
Most have left and im getting out of here

I have finished reading, highlighting, and digesting the federal complaint filed against the City of Springfield, the Springfield Police, and individual officers, by the @CLDC on behalf of Black Unity (@Eblack_unity).
There are a handful of people here now gathered around a banner that says "People have the right to resist - stop the sweeps. Two EPD cars are blocking the way towards the sweep.
I had been working on that tweet for a while and many more folks have shown up in that time. I'd say about 30-40 people.
@Eblack_unity will be announcing a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Springfield, SPD, the police chief, and other individual officers at the George Floyd & Breonna Taylor mural @ 6 p.m.

Please pardon the weird typo at the end. My laptop and Twitter aren't working well together at the moment and I cannot turn INSERT off and had to rewrite that tweet several times on a separate tab :(
