Currently at the JC.

Checking out the paint rn.

New boards have been put up since Thursday.
Two women are heckling "Antifa" across the street in front of a houseless encampment.

"All I want is for you to leave J Street alone."

I think I heard the street right? Idk. They're heckling everyone that walks by.
Ummm lots of (pretty obvious) tourists are here?

Oh and a Boogaloo Boy.
Drums!
People are slowly gathering. There's a drum line and yeah, that's about it.
We're being joined by the other march this evening.
Getting louder
A protester paces past boarded up windows that say "Bre
There's some anger that white people are here and that nothing can be done without Black permission.

Many are saying that the "anarchists should do this somewhere else."

To be clear, people were already here before the march showed up.
Literally a big ass argument on the sidewalk in front of the JC A large mass of people are huddled together on the sidewalk
It appears the mass argument has ended.
Another reminder about why people are here
He says we are here to fight for our civil rights regardless of skin color.
He's explaining that all of this in-fighting is what's led to dwindling numbers for actions.
Rocks are thrown. The energy is "whack" as I've heard one person say.
Barely heard a warning over the PA. It was so quiet. The crowd is chanting now
Unsure what to make of this
Look at how lost these scooter kids are
Another warning. Damn this is a slow night.
This is very confusing
The two sides just hugged it out
Some sort of mental health crisis has taken over and there are altercations everywhere
Anyone need a copy of the @wweek?

This issue is hot off the press!
Well, it's been a long, weird night and it appears that things are pretty much over. There are a few small groups hanging out and chatting. One speaker is still playing music.

I'll be getting out of here in a few minutes

Good evening,

Just arrived at Jamison Square for this action tonight.

After last night, I really have no clue what to expect tbh.
A woman is here with a "give me your stimulus" sign and is causing quite the stir.

"I don't see anyone Black or brown" she said while pointing at the crowd.

I couldn't resist the action tonight and drove to Portland 😅

I have finished reading, highlighting, and digesting the federal complaint filed against the City of Springfield, the Springfield Police, and individual officers, by the @CLDC on behalf of Black Unity (@Eblack_unity).

This is going to be a LONG thread.
Disclaimer: I'll be mentioning things that stood out to me — in page order — but won't discuss everything line-by-line.

If you would like to follow along, here's a link to the PDF version ⤵️

Pg. 1: The first thing that stands out is the sheer number of defendants — over 20.

Also, a "request for jury trial."

I'm up earlier than usual to check out this "Stop The Sweeps" protest on the North Bank of the Willamette River.
There are a handful of people here now gathered around a banner that says "People have the right to resist - stop the sweeps. Two EPD cars are blocking the way towards the sweep. A large white banner with black text reads "people haveAn orange and white striped barrier blocks a bike path. On i
I had been working on that tweet for a while and many more folks have shown up in that time. I'd say about 30-40 people.

Please pardon the weird typo at the end. My laptop and Twitter aren't working well together at the moment and I cannot turn INSERT off and had to rewrite that tweet several times on a separate tab :(
