Reminded the cops that the last time they kettled a crowd opposing bigots they got sued up the ass. But the city pays for it, so...
Police have told people detained to go to 14th to exit. Line formed to get out of kettle. But most are on 13th chanting at riot cops
Portland Police are taking everyone's ID and labeling people with duct tape. One cop confirmed law suits were thrown out last time the kettled, but couldn't keep all the info they collected illegally
Police are forcing press out of kettle
Pigs just grabbed the pig
They gave up on this one
Cop tries to persuade protesters to leave, says all they are doing is IDing
There is a large and loud protest outside the kettle now on NW 13th and Marshall
Portland Police say they are opening street, being in street is illegal and everyone will be escorted out
Now huddling to brainstorm
Then changed their mind
Protest outside kettle continues. About 30 protesters left inside kettle
I was sitting on the sidewalk inside kettle covering events when they tried to force me to leave. Threatened arrest for Interfering with a police officer if I didn't leave and give them all my personal info.
Cop taking picture of me with duct tape with name and birthrate on my chest
Cops took my pepper spray. They said I can't have it because I committed crimes, that is untrue. Then changed to I don't get pepper spray to go into the crowd, I said I am leaving (forced by them), he said but you were in crowd. Then he just threatens to arrest me

It appears some leftists literally believe people are born with certain beliefs and political ideology and that those beliefs are static. 1/
On the surface, it just seems like a bad take, but underneath, is the belief that people don't change and learn. This implies that they themselves feel they are unable to change. Like were these people born leftists or are they just being disingenuous or deceiving themselves? 2/
The psychological and emotional work necessary to address one's own bigotry is overlooked. In my younger years I used many racial/homophobic slurs & treated woman poorly. It was though internal work and listening to those harmed, I was able see how fucked up I was and change. 3/
