2/ There is simply nothing π§πͺ can do about this now. The maximal doses the country will received will allow to vaccinate
β‘οΈ13% by end of Mar
β‘οΈ38% by end of Jun
3/ These facts are no longer under our control and comparisons with other countries are pointless except if one likes to cry over spilt milk
Once we accept this, we can then look at how π§πͺ is performing in rolling out its available vaccines
4/ So what are measures of the performance of the π§πͺ vaccination campaing. There are four measures in fact:
1. How quickly do we get the jabs in the arm? 2. How much waste do we have? 3. How much of the jabs end up in priority groups? 4. How many people pick up the vaccines?
5/ Speed to arm: At the moment, we need ~18 days to achieve this. Is this good?
Taking into account that we still need 1 week of stock to buffer off the volatility of supplies, getting it into the arm in 10 days is ok but could be reduced
6/ Wastage: Figures were indicating 18,000 doses being lost (and this was challenged recently as being far too high).
WHichever, this means that less than 2% are lost
This is actually not bad at all given that the UK was planning with 5%
7/ How many jabs end up in priority groups is more difficult to assess at the moment
The order of priority includes "1st line healt and care workers" which are not age bound and there is no info
Later in the campaign, it will be easier to assess this based on age information
8/ Number of people picking up the vaccine offer: AFAIK, there is unfortunately no information or even estimate on about it
Vaccination in π§πͺ: More delays were announced and there is real confusion about what Belgian really ordered. So here a thread on
/ Supply and deliveries
/ Likely vaccination plan
/ Immunization plan
The result is not cheerful but a reset requires facing the harsh realityβ¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ
First things first: π§πͺ ordered less than others for 2021
We took
- 50% of 1st Moderna Contract (2m not 4m)
- 50% of 2nd Moderna Contract (3.8 not 7.8m) of which 50% is delivered in S2 2021 (rest in 2022)
- 50% of Curevac (2.9m not 5.8m)

Let's reuse the graph for some side comments
/ π¬π§ invested boldly in AZ and this pays off at the moment
