Good Morning @Ableg
here is your #shandemic report for 2021-3-15 beginning with Monster @AdrianaLaGrange mismanagement of Schools, Shandemics actual's negligence and concluding with a new variant in our the mutant threat.
Schools with/had COVID cases 1243 (+7)
Last 2 weeks 277 (+11)
One case or Pre-Alert 94 (=)
Alert (2-4) 106 (+3)
Tier 1 Outbreak (4-9) 48 (+7
Lagrange Lvl Outbreak (10+) 27 (=)
Closed 19 (+2)
Active cases 1017 =
Transmissions 194
Zero good news on the school front as numbers continue to climb despite monster @AdrianaLaGrange great reset and the comprehensive plan replacing the identical robust one. Two additional schools closed. No declines in active cases.
Moving on numbers remain relatively flat in the province as a whole. Current stats are;
138,424 Total cases
388 new cases
1,946 Deaths (+13)
4,697 Active cases (+209)
248 In hospital 259 (-11)
38 In intensive care (=)
With only minor changes (+/-) daily it is worth looking at weekly averages so here they are
Average daily new cases 350 (slight increase)
Deaths - 3.7/day (slight increase)
Hospital (slight decrease)
ICU (slight increase)
With two initial cases, we now have a third COVID variant in Alberta P.1 (or "The Brazilian" ) Current stats are
B.1.1.7 (UK variant) +63 for 902 cases
B.1.351 (South African variant) +1 for 16 cases
NEW P.1 (Brazil) +2 for 2 cases total.
Total variant cases 920
As predicted variant cases have more than doubled over the last 2 week, mostly B.1.1.7.
457 ----> 920 Doubling. If the trend continues we could see;
2k by April
5K by mid April
>10 by May.
Depending on vaccination rates which grow more critical in preventing a third wave.

All in all the numbers for schools are relatively flat. This is not really good news as we continue to see schools reach the LaGrange point of more than 10 cases and 4 more have been closed. Large HS (ME Lazerte YEG) continue to be the hardest hit. Class size is critical.
