Okay here it is, Tory's steps to handling your nightmare inbox
You've got thousands (or tens of thousands) of emails to get through and it's stress inducing and also you might be missing important things, especially if you're job hunting or waiting to hear about a vaccine
This is for gmail (and for personal email, not campaign etc)!
#1:
Turn on keyboard shortcuts, things will go much quicker. And then USE the keyboard shortcuts: support.google.com/mail/answer/65…
#2:
What emails can you bulk delete? Anything from DoorDash, Amazon, delivery services. Walgreens. Do you get emails anytime you make a purchase over $20 or similar?
Search name, select all, and select all that apply (so it's more than the one page), and delete em
#3:
Keep thinking about bulk deletes - old fundraising emails. Calendar events from before 2021. Alumni associations. Old newsletters. Mobilize. Hulu, twitter, Netflix, etc!
Take the 15 seconds to also unsubscribe from the things you don't need!
#4:
LinkedIn alerts, Indeed alerts, other job hunting alerts older than 2 weeks are not helpful anymore. Bulk delete those.
Bank alerts older than a month, also probably delete-able.
#5:
Make some labels if you don't have them already.
I recommend at least:
- Apartment/housing stuff
- Your Job/School
- Past Jobs/Schools
- job app things if you're hunting
- doctors
- stuff to keep
- stuff to keep, Sad
#6:
Okay! Now the goal is getting rid of whatever you have left that's unread.
Go to Settings > Inbox > Inbox Type, and select Unread First.
On the right side of the screen, click the number of emails, and it'll take you to all unreads. Select "oldest".
#7.
Go in reverse chronological order - the older ones are more deleteable!
Start just going to TOWN! Delete all that junk.
Only do 4 actions to any email: 1. delete 2. reply 3. label or make a new label, put under that 4. star it so you come back to it at the end.
#8.
Remember to unsubscribe from things you do not need because you do not want to do this again
The only unreads you should have when you're done with this process are things you need to handle in the next 5 days. Anything longer should have it's own label.
#9.
congrats on being done with unreads!!!
Time to do a similar process with all the things in there that are read.
Turn off unread first, then do the same action of clicking the range of emails you have and selecting oldest. Go through all of them, only do those 4 actions.
#10.
Keep at it until your inbox is clean and pretty.
Congrats! Clean inbox.
Now when you get a new email, same 4 actions - delete, reply, label, or star
Tada!
(Step 11 is if you're a campaign, hire me and I will make Inbox magic)

"Tory Cross said the lack of verification requirements is crucial to California’s commitment to vaccine equity.
“It’s really important... to be able to self-attest,” she said, noting that many lost their healthcare during the pandemic and might not have easy access to a doctor."
Many people lost their health care in the past year, especially people who had health care tied to employment, so wouldn't be able to get proof of their health conditions.
And of course, there's medical racism, for example, that makes it less likely for people of color to be diagnosed with these high risk conditions, despite being more likely to have them because of things like the environment, etc.
I see a lot of Californians not finding appointments with MyTurn - MyTurn is where I got mine but I also have a list of others that I planned to check, so here's the list!
1. I am beyond thrilled to see this incredible platform from @RebeccaLamorte - and I’m gonna break down my favorite parts. #CripTheVote
First though, come to Rebecca’s townhall on Monday, 7:30EST to discuss it! cutt.ly/r4nydisability…
2. Okay, let’s break this incredible plan down.
COVID-19 has decimated disabled people in the past year. @RebeccaLamorte poses the right steps to protecting our community, including demanding accountability and change for the nursing homes, especially with Cuomo’s cover up.
3. With the dangers and terrors of nursing homes and other congregate housing, disabled people have had to fight harder than ever this year to receive care at home. @RebeccaLamorte sees this and knows and plans to robustly fund programs that provide care at home. #CripTheVote
So here's some points from the plan that I am joyously dancing over, imagining them being put into place.
$5 Billion a Year for 10 years to remediate lead in paint and soil and replace lead pipes:
So often policies don't acknowledge that the BEST way to prevent lead poisoning is to simply get rid of the sources of the lead. This gets right to the root and puts money where it belongs.
