The murders of several Asian women yesterday can be traced to Evangelical ideology.

The man who perpetrated the crimes is the son of a youth pastor who was probably inundated with purity culture propaganda that warped his perception of his own sexuality and normal sexual urges.

However, the Atlanta police’s response to the crime is extremely dystopian in its apologetics and acceptance of this rationale as a valid excuse for the crimes committed.

Police are offering his religiously ideological rationale for him. Without criticism.

This is what’s meant by extremist evangelical Christians when religious freedom is cited as a human right.

They want the right to practice their faith without restrictions.

While these murders are too far, the beliefs underpinning them are not considered extreme by the police.

That sounds unreasonable to Canadians and Americans who don’t live in a state that is dominated by evangelical beliefs.

But it’s entirely normal to locations where evangelical faith is paramount.

This young man was presumably raised in purity culture. And it’s warped his perception of normal biological urges experienced by young men into an attempt at justification for murder.

The article in previous tweet describes what purity culture teaches girls & women. But also what it teaches men & boys.

It teaches them women are responsible for limiting their sexuality and its impact on men.

Men’s sexual urges are completely the responsibility of women.

And these beliefs and values are being couched as biblical and Natural Law according to evangelical interpretation of the bible. Which they also claim is divinely written and therefore inerrant.

This is what freedom of religion is protecting. Indoctrination of innocent pliable minds of children within evangelical faith to believe in male superiority and dominion over women, children, other faiths, BIPOC, & LGBTQ.

Limiting the description of these behaviours to racism barely scratches the surface of the issue.

Since the 1990’s, evangelicals have been indoctrinating entire generations of evangelical children and their parents to believe in these toxic and non biblical cult like tenets.

Shielding these beliefs in extreme interpretations of Religious Freedom prevents the non extreme public from challenging the validity of these beliefs and values.

Labeling them racist, misogynist, xenophobic or homophobic is the equivalent of blasphemy against god, to them.

That blasphemy provides justification for demonization of secularism, liberalism, humanism and socialism. And it’s why Dominionists hate Communism the most.

Because it is antithetical to the generations of children and adults who have adopted these extremist beliefs.

If you don’t believe what is presented as the word of god and what is taught is god’s natural order of power and wealth distribution, you’re an enemy of god.

As an enemy of god, the value of human beings diminishes to the point of easy to exterminate.

Who gives a second thought to the extermination of sub humans influenced by Satan to tempt and corrupt the chosen people?

Certainly not Dominionists.

Christianity is being used to create an obedient and subservient army of spiritual warriors. Willing to act on their beliefs and values. If that means extermination of non believers? So be it.

The fact the police did not question the reasons provided by the murderer as valid is deeply troubling.

This incident is disturbing because it’s an example of what has been allowed to be created over the last 35-40 years. Out in the open. We’ve all ignored it at our own peril.

People who truly have no concept of grounded reality.

The willingness to reject secular rule of law in favour of religious freedom to practice one’s faith.

Anarchy cloaked in religious garb, with millions willing to die to defend their faith.

That’s what evangelical faith has become. And what has coopted most conservative political parties.

In the US there are 50-70 million people who are either evangelical or Q’Anon conspiracy theorists.

There are more people who have no concept of actual reality than there are total population of Canada. About a quarter of the 2.5 billion Christians globally are evangelical.

When are people going to wake up and realize the level of danger we are in?

In Alberta, and across Canada, there are evangelical Christians flouting the rule of law. Telling the public they no longer feel the need to pretend they respect the rule of secular government created laws.

They follow gods laws, as commanded in the bible.

There’s a reason I circulated this meme a few days ago.

Look at it closely. It is not the public bringing the government to its knees. It’s the evangelical pastors.

Get over the taboo of religious freedom. This is an existential threat to democracy and most of humanity.
