There's no sign Biden will grant EU's request to send AZ doses their way.

But this will still benefit 🇪🇺, because with Covid vaccines for the 1st time going from 🇺🇸 to 🇨🇦&🇲🇽, EU plants can send less to those 2 countries.

More doses can stay in EU.

The announcement that the US is preparing to end its export ban comes one day after the EU threatened to ban exports to countries that don't export themselves.

Upon further examination, this appears to be more of a PR stunt by the Biden admin.

The 4 million AZ doses being “lent” to 🇨🇦&🇲🇽 are paltry considering 30m are reportedly sitting hoarded in US while FDA doesn’t approve.

This won’t end ban on export of vaccines produced in US.

Since doses given by 🇺🇸 as a ‘gift’ to 🇨🇦&🇲🇽 from US purchased supply, it has no effect on export ban preventing companies from supplying other countries with doses made in 🇺🇸(as they’re doing with doses made in 🇪🇺).

This PR stunt came a day after VdL’s EU export ban threat...

Will 🇺🇸 allow #Pfizer to use its US sites to supply non-US countries like 🇨🇦,🇲🇽&🇯🇵? It appears the answer is still no.

So EU sites will still have to be used to supply them. Exports so far:
