Stanleyville became the mythical center for much of the later narrative.
In the mid 70's, Angola was the next time mercenaries popped up in the news. John Banks and his motley white mercenary crew for Holden Roberto's FNLA. were captured and put on trial. The book Whores of War covers this story.
Peter McAleese worked in Angola who would later work in Colombia details the murder of mercenaries by one of their leaders. mercenary-wars.net/biography/pete…. The Angolans would later execute some of the captured mercenaries.
