My mom worked at a store in Chinatown that was robbed at gunpoint when I was 16. She was run over by a car robbing the store when I was 18. Yesterday, she was threatened again by a gun. I'm 23 now. This violence isn't new and continues to threaten our livelihoods every day. 1/7
The problem is systemic. People are suffering from hunger, homelessness, and disease, and their anger is being loaded into a gun and pointed at BIPOC. It's easier to get a gun in this country and shoot someone than it is to get a stimulus check, higher wages, or health care. 2/7
Sick, hateful people will continue targeting vulnerable communities because this country aids them in doing so. Our media and government consistently shift blame onto BIPOC, using language like the China Virus, reinforcing racism and fueling hate crimes. 3/7
Meanwhile, vulnerable communities continue being exposed in order to survive. We keep having to come back to work in these conditions to provide for our families. My mom is going back to work today. Nothing has changed. 4/7
More police is not and never will be the answer. The cops came every time and did nothing for us. None of the systems in place that are supposed to help and protect people are doing so, at least, not when those people are poor, immigrants, and/or people of color. 5/7
Insurance didn't even pay for my mom's accident. We had to set up a go fund me. We still pay for her medical bills out of pocket. Why is it that every time a tragedy occurs, people have to rely on GFMs to save their families? What is our government doing? 6/7
We need help. I don't want my mom, myself, or my family to become another name. I don't want to see another Asian American, immigrant, or person of color become another name. Fund marginalized communities, not law enforcement and broken systems that have never helped us. 7/7
i am fucking exhausted and do not care for what anyone has to say about what my family needs to do. don't tell us to buy guns. don't tell us to move. don't tell us to work more. i am working multiple jobs. we pay our taxes. we've done enough. i need this country to do more for us
do not try to fucking pin the blame, again, on BIPOC, for where we working or living in "dangerous" areas. tell me why these "dangerous" areas exist and why BIPOC are always the ones inhabiting them. oh wait, i have already addressed that in this thread. it is systemic.
it is the way my family has worked 80+ hours/week for years and cannot afford to pay back debt, much less move to a "better" area. and even if we did move, it does not change that these crimes will continue to happen and that BIPOC will be the victims of them. as i've said-
it's not just about my family. it's about my family, every asian american, every immigrant, every poc, and every minority that continues to suffer in this country. this country has failed BIPOC time and time again and you're still telling BIPOC to do better and to move and to-
get better jobs, shut the fuck up. i don't even know how you manage to talk when you're so busy licking boots, but shut the fuck up.

i don't know who needs to hear this but getting your feelings hurt doesn't mean you've been abused
continually and repeatedly doing something that you know hurts another's feelings in an attempt to harm, control, or manipulate them *is* abuse. there is a fair line between hurting someone's feelings and abuse- abuse is a cycle, repeated and intentional.
these things can also happen in normal relationships. someone hurts your feelings, apologizes for it, & you move on. they may unintentionally hurt your feelings again, apologize & so on. healthy relationships involve getting hurt and hurting as you learn how to be with each other
people's cash apps have been getting hacked and funds are being taken from their accounts so if you have a cashapp, unlink your bank info, remove other personal info, and disable your cash card
going to be sharing the links that sex workers had shared under the 'apology' bella thorne made when she screwed over sex workers on OF, feel free to check out all the links in the original thread and add your own links below! apologies if I can't add everyone bc of thread limit
bella thorne is one of the top 10 villains of 2020
remember when she posted an apology and told sex workers to send links so she would promote them and then never did anything and now she just tweets promotions for her own OF page while sex workers are still screwed by the caps and restrictions that she brought about!
well, here's a thread of some of the sex workers BT promised to help since it looks like she's never gonna get around to promoting these links
Alternative headline: NYC medic is not being paid a sustainable income despite her important role particularly during a pandemic, takes on an additional job and admirably manages both, but really should just be paid more at her current job
this wonderful person is at risk of losing her job bc of this misogynistic article that she didn't consent to, here's her go fund me if you're able to help gofundme.com/url_shortener/…
but really @nypost what about "I don't want my identification shared bc I'm worried about losing my job" didn't make sense to you and @ SeniorCare what about consensual sex work doesn't "adhere to standards of personal ethics"?
