Haven't seen much "vaccine hesitancy" and did you know this is what it actually is?

sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Here's my experience with patients and loved ones:
Most common: concern about adverse effects
– Most of these people opt for vaccination once they have perspective on risks vs. benefits for vaccination vs. not
– Rest have mostly stated a preference for vaccination, after seeing more safety data from real world use.
(that would technically be "delaying" which would count as vaccine hesitancy, although for new interventions with an EUA, and low risk of delay, I find this reasonable and the hesitancy label inappropriate)
Many people just want information.

These people have zero hesitancy whatsoever in my opinion. They often are eager to get vaccinated but first wanted access to a trusted source.
Rare cases of people concerned about their allergy history, but again, they are eager to get vaccinated, and once informed of data on allergic reactions, have all planned to get it.
One really notable set of people I've experienced (a handful):

People who always decline the flu vaccine (but who get other vaccines) or who have historically declined all vaccinations, who have witnessed the mass death & isolation of the pandemic and want COVID-19 vaccination.
Out the hundreds of people I've spoken with in the last 3 months about COVID-19 vaccination, I've only met 1 person who declines COVID-19 vaccination and won't even consider it. This person declines all vaccines, had no curiosity or hesitation. Only adamancy.
Anyway, that's my personal experience talking to probably about 200-300 people about COVID-19 vaccination.

Would be curious to hear others'.

Expect to see another wave.

22 states are now having case resurgences. Image
Governors sprinted to reopen way too early. A thread of recent examples:

The current vaccination effort focused on elders & health workers won't protect us from a surge. They are not the biggest drivers of spread, they were prioritized bc they are most at risk of exposure or severe COVID-19.

People most likely to spread are likely still unvaccinated.

THREAD

I just keep coming back to this tweet so going to transcribe its image
"The EU, US and UK make up only 10.8% of the global population but have given 50% of all vaccinations.

In contrast, Africa makes up 17.2% of the world in population but only 1.5% of vaccinations"
"COVAX is on track to achieve only about a quarter of its aimed vaccinations this year, which would amount to vaccinating a maximum of 5% in any one country."

1/ Appalled by vaccine apartheid?

Tomorrow as the WTO meets to discuss the #TRIPSWaiver, we will be taking it to the pharmaceutical industry with a series of protests throughout the US.

@PplsAction @HealthGAP @uaem @CPDAction @actupny
2/ We will shine a light on pharma greed.

We will show that the vaccine scarcity is false.

We will demand vaccine equity and that Biden #FreeTheVaccine.

Because no one is safe until everyone – globally – is safe.

Here's early data suggesting the B.1.351 variant is a vaccine escape mutant.

To prevent more strains that the vaccines don't protect from, we need a paid shutdown now. #PaidShutdownNow

There are high levels of uncontrolled transmission in the US, UK, EU, Brazil, and elsewhere that are increasingly exposed to people who are vaccinated.
If we vaccinated 5 billion or so people instantly, like flicking a switch, the pandemic would likely end in a flash.

(Not pictured: quart 17, already eaten)
We used this recipe with some modifications.

Cost $30 for 17 quarts.

Key sourcing:
