Sen. Imee Marcos says it is "alarming" if the members of the national COVID-19 task force are already considered "the best and the brightest."
She's among those calling for the abolition of IATF, saying there is a need to have a science-based approach in addressing the pandemic
Sen. Marcos: I will continue to call out for the truth, because this is ineptitude
Sen. Marcos on allegations that the pandemic is being politicized: Politicking? I am a staunch administration senator, I have a job until 2025. I have absolutely nothing to gain.
Sen. Marcos says even the explanation for the spike in cases isn't clear, noting the several factors being cited by authorities
Sen. Marcos: We already know that the credibility of Sec. Duque has been questioned many times, and he is the single doctor in the IATF
Sen. Marcos: I think it is time to bring on board other people — other doctors, more scientists
Earlier, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque slammed calls for the IATF’s abolition, saying the task force should not be blamed for COVID-19 mutations which have partly led to the spike in cases.
He also maintained the IATF’s decisions are science- and data-based.
Sen. Marcos: Our health workers now are crying for help. I think it's time that we call for volunteers — our former DOH officials, PhilHealth officials, many of them are really capable
Sen. Marcos: What are these lockdowns, these silly lockdowns that keep changing names into ‘circuit breaker,’ copycatting Singapore and the UK. Come on, we know what it is.
Sen. Marcos says she is not against granular or time-bound lockdowns but adds they are “useless and only result in hunger and employment” if not accompanied by massive efforts to test and contact trace
