... in Dennis Donohue's problems, some of the roads lead to Bruce Taylor.

In 2012 Dennis Donohue put his personal residence solely in his wife's name. He said it was for "estate planning purposes" yet Donohue did it at the very moment he was under scrutiny from @TheJusticeDept. ImageImage
2/

Vanessa Vallarta went out of her way to cover for Donohue - beyond what is required as the City Attorney. She was later. made a judge.. Vallarta is a close associate of former Salinas Mayor @CASenCaballero - who started Salinas down a corruption hole. ImageImage
3/

Billionaire AG CEO Bruce Taylor of @YourTaylorFarms wrote an obnoxious letter to @salnews. In it he told publisher Paula Goudreau that he doesn't waste his time reading the news because he is busy doing more important things (like trying to rig a city to his favor?) ImageImage
4/

fmr. corrupt Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue was involved in a scandal. Multiple scandals, in fact. All tied to how he did business while Mayor of Salinas.

What did he do after abruptly putting his house solely in his wife's name and informing the public he would not longer ImageImageImage
5/

hold a public office?

In 2016, with substantial backing from a bunch of AG billionaires he launched a scorched earth campaign to try an unseat a popular, and liberal, county supervisor. Donohue failed - because he is largely, a failure - but for his connections.
6/

Why has this been so poorly covered in any meaningful - investigative - journalistic manner?

Because the billionaires have destroyed the newspapers and reporters are having to play nice in hopes of finding work - post layoffs.

Amy Wu covered Donohue. And now works for him. ImageImage
7/

Bruce Taylor and others hooked up Dennis Donohue with a lucrative new job. In this piece Donohue and Western Growers were not asked what Donohue's salary package consisted of.

Amy Wu went on to take a job with W. Growers as well and local law enforcement is beyond conflicted ImageImage
8/

... in October 2016 Dennis Donohue, the former Mayor, was the moderator of a Bruce Taylor hosted @SteveForbesCEO "AG Tech" Summit part 2, the first being in 2015. Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter was given an award as a "jobs creator".

By 2018 Gunter, a former @SalinasPD detective ImageImageImageImage
9/

was writing "reference letters" on @CityofSalinas letterhead in his official capacity as Mayor of Salinas in favor of an arrested (later convicted) cocaine trafficker named Mike Hackett. A major player in Monterey County marijuana - and the massive coverup began ... ImageImage
10/

The very rich billionaires like Steve Forbes who had his name attached to the Bruce Taylor AGTech synergy front do not like when a scandal has an impact on their name. Neither do others.

It will be interesting to see how much support @ForbesTech gives Salinas in the future. ImageImage

I'm suspicious of a politician when they start brown-nosing the reporters they are stone-walling on stories like:

1. The County of Monterey is paying the legal fees for Cmdr.'s Archie Warren, Mark Caldwell and others with the @MCoSheriff dept.

2. @SheriffBernal corruption.

How bad is the local news? @k_cimini and @eduardomcuevas wrote this bullshit in 2018.

They didn't do any research into Dave Drew's continued criminal conduct or speak with any of the detractors of this process - who know what took place.

Governmental corruption OVERLOOKED. ImageImage
2/

The message this sends criminals, and the reporters who have chosen to enable the criminals in our community is that Monterey County is for sale.

Trump was a symptom and @salnews hasn't been a newspaper for a very long time.
3/

The Californian reporters who wrote about Drew's 2018 "bogus criminal pardon" by @JerryBrownGov had access to much of the earlier reporting on Dave Drew and used none of it to perform a credible job of reporting the pardon Drew ultimately received.

Why? Image

1944.

What is being lost, it seems to me, in the destruction of the newspaper, is the loss of reporting. Decades later all this reporting takes on new and interesting meaning.

For instance Sebastian Sollecito was listed here as a businessman opening up a new cannery on the row
2/

In 2006 Mr. Sollecito died from old age - but his $100,000,000 (thats one hundred million dollar) estate lived on. It came under dispute in 2008 after Mr. Sollectito's wife was getting manipulated by a guy named Ronnie Bush - and $1.8 million was used to make a bogus run at
3/

Dr. Dre's Death Row Records 😂 (everyone knows it was Tupac's catalog that pumps cash into Death Row corporate).

@Schwarzenegger real estate commissioner and his brother Anthony were somehow involved but our local reporters didn't bother to look. Wasn't a good story.

.@RepJimmyPanetta's dad, @LeonPanetta12 and his pals. The first newspaper intro to the dreamy story of First Cabin Ltd - a massive operation that moved dope, guns, and money between Monterey County and South America.

$985 million was laundered through the accounts at Dean Witter
2/

That was nearly $4 BILLION dollars of illegal trafficking ill-gotten gain in 2021 dollars.

Imagine how much money made its way to local politicians and cops and newspaper people?

Because the story was kept VERY QUIET.

... by 2011 @BarackObama names Panetta DIR of CIA.
3/

More write ups from 1979 - complete and total bs. What was published in '79 was a public relations nuanced story of a love of fishing - the boats were financed with $11,000,000 dollars from a "network" of interests.

This was an example of fake news. 1979 style.

Imagine you ran for Board of Supervisors - it would be an uphill battle because the big money interests were backing your opponent @stevemcshane. Your campaign was - "I'm the real Democrat"

Then, within a month you are meeting with a criminally investigated PAC. That's
what @SupervisorAskew has lowered herself to in meeting with this group. There is no benefit to Monterey County residents by meeting with this corrupt group.

Brian Finegan is a perjurer. He is a co-founder of SVLG. Don Chapin is a bully. Just ask Professor
Mercurio of Hartnell College who had to get tough with Chapin who tried to bully the Hartnell Professor, Chapin had hired as an expert witness.

The list of sleazy knows no limit.

... and @SupervisorAskew just became one of them.

Her husband is an architect. Maybe she sees

"The violations here were isolated as the committee AND WAYLAND have not bad prior enforcement history"

@CA_FPPC - yes Wayland has had prior enforcement history. Stephen Collins Don Chapin & Scheid Wineries "loans" not disclosed $7,000 fine. Wayland was Collins' accountant.

Wendy, "the Progressive" became Pandering Wendy to @SVLGroup (a PAC under local, state & federal investigation for corruption) as the newly elected official who went out of her way to bow to the powerful and ridiculously right-wing political action committee in MoCo.
3/

Dave Drew, the narco-trafficker pardoned (wrongly) by @JerryBrownGov, has been a dues paying member since the group began.

In essence, @WendyRootAskew just pandered to a right wing PAC because @RepJimmyPanetta's amoral consultant Plasha Will asked her to.
