The report addresses @NAssemblyKE and urges it to act by: 1. Enacting a law on enforced disappearances or amending the existing legislation to criminalize enforced disappearances. The law should include recourse and reparations for victims and their families.
3. Ratifying the international convention for the protection of all persons from enforced disappearance. 4. Ratifying the optional protocol to the convention against torture & other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment #righttotruth #MissingVoices2020ReportLaunch

Brutal police in Nairobi violently disrupted several peaceful marches urging constitutionalism & respect for human rights. The march coincided with the 30th anniversary of Saba Saba movement, which was critical in repealing Section 2A of the Constitution, allowing multipartyism.
Rights defenders from social justice centres in Nairobi organized the march to pile pressure on the government to act on human rights abuses -- many committed by rogue police – and provide for fundamental freedoms. They were to petition the President to act. @StateHouseKenya
However, shortly after most marches commenced at 7 am, police fired teargas, shot in the air, & arrested at least 8 right defenders, including Wilfred Olal & Editar Ochieng, now at Kariobangi and Kilimani police stations, respectively. Police are holding others at Kayole station.
