It's interesting that the regime keeps trying to tie incels to gun violence as a grave threat to society when the last time that men were allowed widespread access to arms led to the most attractive and successful population of marriage partners of all time

My read on this is that the introduction of agriculture/pastoralism allows the families/clans that initially monopolize these resources to enact violence/ostracism against their *internal* competitors, allowing those clans complete reproductive takeover

But once that success allows them to grow to the size of a polity that can afford—and requires—a new and dedicated martial caste to protect its wealth and property, reproduction suddenly becomes much more egalitarian

Especially as martial tech allows them to conquer *outsiders*

This comes with an implicit threat that they can conquer their insider rulers, if those rulers try to shut out the new soldier-caste like they did their initial competitors

The (internal) result of this is a shift from polygamous rulers and incel outcasts to monogamous marriage

This reached its apotheosis with the Sintashta, where every single man not only owned and used his own copper weapons, but *forged* them, in his own house—and sold their extras to Middle Eastern rulers

This is my best stab to explain a very weird phase of human archaeohistory, where male reproductive success suddenly became v. constrained, and then violently reversed course when the rulers had to create a vital new caste to protect what they'd built for themselves

Our rulers, by contrast, have created blue checks and tranissaries to protect what they've built from the similar problems they've created for themselves.

One solution lasted 5000 years. I'm not sure this one will last another 50
