Recessions usually encourage more people to seek shelter in college and upgrade their skills. This has been a different kind of recession, of course, with colleges struggling to adapt & often leaving students with less appealing or accessible options. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/…

College enrollment fell not only for new high school grads last fall. Enrollment of older (non-traditional-aged) students down even more -- again, not something you'd usually expect to see w/ high joblessness.

We're adding back jobs. That's a good thing. But current/future workers still likely to have long-term scarring, thanks to K-12 learning losses + declines in higher ed enrollment, particularly among the students who stand to financially benefit from addit'l schooling the most
