You should read the shareholder letters of Warren Buffett.

But you probably don’t have time.

So here is a mega 🧵 with a running summary as I read and take notes.
You can get his letters here from 1965-2014: amazon.com/dp/0615975070/…
What makes Buffett so special?

He’s the greatest capital allocator alive today—perhaps the greatest in history.

He’s not sexy. He invests in railroads, insurance, candy, jewelry, & ice cream.

Yet he’s posted increasingly great returns with compounding interest for decades.

Twitter supercharged my learning this year.

Here’s a mega 🧵 of my favorite ideas from my favorite thinkers:
Tail events drive the world. Expose your systems to consistent stress to make them antifragile. @nntaleb amazon.com/Antifragile-Th…
Play wealth games, not status games. Utilize leverage with media and code. @naval

You should read The Art of Doing Science and Engineering by Richard Hamming.

But you probably don’t have time.

So here is a 🧵 with a running summary as I read and take notes on the book.
You can get the book here: amazon.com/dp/1732265178/…
Your work process is only as valuable as the goals you’ve designed it to achieve.

“It was not the number of operations done that mattered; it was, as it were, the number of of micro-Noble prizes I computed.”

We live in the best time for makers! Where to start?

Build a course and sell what you know. People want your skills.

But don’t brain dump into Teachable and then light up your followers with posts.

Here’s a better plan for making 💰 online.

🧵
Follow people who’ve built profitable courses like @fortelabs, @david_perell, and @jackbutcher. Gain inspiration from them, but don’t copy their current strategies. They gained success through a sequenced process. Start in the place right for you.
Share lots of free, quality content. Show your value, build trust, grow followers. Be a lighthouse so like-minded people find you (cr:@mkobach).

Be prolific, not perfect. Iterate and experiment. Over time, you'll uncover the right topic for your course & focus for your branding.

Makers, let's increase the GDP of the internet.

Here's my contribution: a canvas and mega 🧵 on profitable courses.

As a PM in edu, I've reached a million+ people with my products and increased a college's revenue by 20%.

Here's my secret sauce packaged for solopreneurs.
Canvas

Your first course idea won't be your best. You'll need to strategize, iterate, experiment, and prototype. Use the canvas to model your different ideas and test for feasibility, viability, and desirability.
Audience

You must be hyper-specific to make money. Don't target people who like education. Target people trying to earn side income by selling their online courses on Twitter.

Avoid technicalities like psychographics. Just make sure you have confidence and razor-sharp clarity.
