What to say... I usually like to focus on a specific issue or policy so we can help people get their head around it. But then there's times when it feels we need an Honest Government Ad that attempts to sum up the shitfuckery - and this definitely feels like one of those times..

Here's the actual “Australian Values” which the Australian Govt has made part of its new citizenship test: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/m…

They’re mostly good values. Would be grouse if our Government lived up to them...

There are so many more things I wanted to include in this video to highlight the Govt's hypocrisy about its "Australian Values". Coz nothing says "Empathy for those in need" like deporting a family because their Australian-born child has a disability abc.net.au/news/2021-03-2…

Or "Respect for the freedom and dignity of individuals", like destroying the freedom and dignity of individuals with these shitty Cashless Debit Cards - now being expanded to the NT abc.net.au/news/2018-07-2…

Or "Commitment to the Rule of Law" like hatching a totally illegal scheme that drove people to suicide with fake debt letters... theguardian.com/australia-news…

But I tried to focus on the current supreme shitfuckery in Parliament House... Sometimes I think we need to start making Honest Govt Docos rather than Ads... 😩

Our Government just passed a new law, the News Media Bargaining Code, that fundamentally alters the relationship between Big Media & Big tech, so I thought we could do with an Honest Government Ad about it. Especially since other Govts are sure to try and emulate it... 🌎🌍🌏

Today the case to extradite Assange resumes - the most brazen and consequential assault on the press of our lifetimes: a Govt is prosecuting a publisher for exposing it's crimes. Many have asked us to make a new Honest Government Ad about it, but this one is sadly still current

None of the criminals behind the murderous war in Iraq and Agfhanistan have been so much as prosecuted, let alone punished. But the publisher who exposed their cimes is facing a lifetime in jail. (Are you comfortable with that?)

Bear in mind that Assange is being prosecuted for doing what national security journalists do on a regular basis: collaborating with sources to obtain and publish documents in the public interest. Also known as: GOOD JOURNALISM
