PARANORAL STORIES IN INDIAN ARMY : Paranormal army stories is a genre of its own especially in Japan and US . India also has its own share of such tales told over of what is called " Langar Gupp"

I will start with the most famous one.

The protector of Nathu La Pass, Sikkim:
Nathu La Pass is mountain pass between Tibet and Sikkim where many battles took place between the Indian Army and the PLA during the 1965 Sino-Indian war. During one of these battles , a 22 year old Jawan drowned in a glacier while leading a column of mules
carrying supplies to a remote outpost. Even after 3 days his remains were not found . Legend has it that another soldier had a dream in which the martyred soldier told him the location where the remains of the body were and also that even after death he will remain
Indian army soldier and serve the country . When the Army sent the search part at that location, his body was found stuck in the glaciers and was cremated with full military honor.
The spirit of the soldier never left the place . He is know to warn the regiment of any
skirmish and attacks by Chinese at least 3 days before. He would also warn them of unprotected areas where Chinese could enter

As these instructions generally proved to be accurate , he legend grew , a shrine was built and popularity of the shrine grew.
His uniform and boots were kept in the shrined and cleaned everyday . A bed was also laid down for him . The caretaker of the shrine swear that his boots even though were cleaned everyday were found soiled every morning and bed sheets were found crushed
Soldiers reported that they saw shadow of a man on a horse at night patrolling the area and pulled up soldiers who were found napping or whose uniform was not not upto the standard .
Such was the legend , that during flag meetings between the 2 countries
even the Chinese keep a chair aside for this soldier.

Up until the few years back , soldier family back home was sent full salary
He would even get a month long leave. September 11the every year Soldiers would pack his trunk with basic essentials and they would
accompany the trunk all the way to his hometown Kapurthala and bring it back after a month.
His shrine is believed to have magical properties to cure ailments . Villagers from Sikkim and Bengal visit the shrine and place bottles of water and take it back as blessed water
is supposed to cure ailments.

The soldiers name is Harbhajan singh now called " Baba Harbhajan Singh " .
Baba Harbhajan Singh was born into a Sikh family on 30th August 1946 in the village of Sadrana in district Gujarawala punjab (Pakistan)
(now known as village bathebhaini of patti in district tarn taran punjab (India). He enlisted as a soldier in Amritsar and joined the Punjab regiment.
He was killed in 1968 near the Nathu La in eastern Sikkim, India.

But the legend lives on...
INDIAN ARMY PARANORMAL STORY : 2ND STORY

Vijayanta Tank : This story is from Gwalior . A soldier was posted outside a garage that housed number of tanks . It was around 3-3.30 in the morning and the soldier's shift was about to end when he heard a sound of metal
clanging inside the garage . At first he ignores it but then couple of minutes later he again hears the sound and also the lights of one the tank was now on .

He is surprised now . He walk towards the tank and shouts from outside if someone( maintenance crew)
is still inside the tank .He receives no reply in words . But the tank moves 5-10 mts forward and then moves back to its original position.
The soldier now climbs the tank and open the hatch to talk to whoever was inside.

There was no one inside. Empty
The soldier knew that is he speaks to anyone about it they will probably label him mentally unstable so he decides to keep it to himself . But after few days it happens again and then again .
So he decides to talk to other soldiers who kept guard during that shift .
They casually replied that yes it happens very often and they are used to it and there is nothing be scared of .
But the soldier wants to follow to the book so he escalates to higher up .
In order to put this thing to rest ( since now multiple people had reported it) , they decide to tie down the tank using large steel chains . That night there was even louder sound . The chains were broken and tank had been moved again .
They tried gain with more and heavier chains and result was the same .

After few months a team of Officers from the Army HQ came to look at the ghostly tank. They stayed up the night to see it by themselves and the entire incident was repeated.
They tried every reasonable explanation but there was none .

So now they started going through the history of the tank.

A report was sent from the HQ after few months the tank was part an Operation in Thar Desert where a
soldier had taken the tank into the desert without permission and was stuck in the tank as his hatch was locked.

Soldiers dead body and tank was found in desert few days later.
As for tank, been told that Army still has it and its kept at Thar. It was maintained with limited fuel so that it cannot move beyond few meters. Very often its found 20-30 meters away from its original location
INDIA ARMY PARANORMAL STORIES : 3RD STORY:

The drill : This story relates to NE . There was a mock drill planned at midnight between 2 teams . To prepare for the drill , trenches/pits were dug few days earlier in a large field where the drill was supposed to take place
As the drill started some of the soldiers jumped in the trenches to hide from the opposing team. Suddenly few soldiers in one of the trenches felt as if they are being dragged down . They thought it must be because it had rained and thats why the soil was sinking in
So they ignored it.

Soon few other from the other trenches also felt the same and but it more than just loose soil . It was definitely as if somebody was pulling them down.

and then the shit hit the roof
Few soldiers came back with their backs all scratched. It was so bad that it was bleeding and their uniforms had been torn. They said that when they were in the trench , they felt someone scratching them very badly with very sharp nails . Soon many soldiers came up
with these scratches .

They thought maybe its some wild animal inside the trenches so they started digging them . Turns out these were unmarked graves and many skeletons were discovered , largely of women and children .
They were dated back to early 80s when the insurgency was at peak in the region and entire village was burned down by insurgents - men were taken away for not complying with drug trade but not before their families were killed in front of them & buried

WHEN I WAS SIX , MY FRIEND VANISHED FROM HIS BATHROOM - WAS NEVER FOUND
Story goes back about 30 years . My friend Hitansh's family had moved to a very nice, newly build bungalow in Hauz Khas . The Mishra's (Father Abhay and Mother Kusum) had made their money supplying medical
equipment to nearby AIIMS and safdarjung and few other hospitals and a bunglow in Hauz Khas was a perfect announcement of their arrival on Delhi's social circuit.
One fine spring day in March , after our exams they moved into the house . It was perfect , other than the
fact that it smelled very heavily of phenyl . At first they ignored it, thinking it just the initial cleaning smell and will go away . But even after few days , the smell refused to leave . They checked every corner of the house but could not locate the source .

DON’T , JUST DON’T HANG OUT UNDER THIS TREE AT DWARKA SECTOR 9 METRO STATION ( long thread)
Dwarka is one of the sub cities of Delhi , developed in late 90s/ early 2000 to cater for affordable housing for middle class . It also developed wide network of metro connectivity.
This story goes back to 2006 . My GF ( now wife) used to stay at Dwarka and every weekend , once the metro station opened in 2006 - I used to hang out at CP during afternoon and take metro to Dwarka to meet her in the evening .
There is one unusual thing I
noticed . As the time progressed , the ecosystem outside metro station ( auto wala , rickshaw wala , chai wala , thelas etc) instead of building up was actually decreasing . After a while especially in the evening there were hardly any people outside the metro station

HAUNTED STORIES OF DELHI : THE GRIEF
Growing up , there was one very peculiar thing in my family that I could never understand. Whenever they were very sad or grieving or with an extremely heavy heart they would go in this room , close the door and sat there ; sometimes for
minutes , sometimes for hours and sometimes for days . They would not eat or sleep when inside the room but when they came out they were calmer and visibly at peace .
Whenever I asked my parents about it they told me that they will let me know the family secret when I turned 21
Finally when I turned 21 , my parents and grandparents took me inside that room. Opened a door and handed me a pen . It was blue in color , with a silver medium nib and no markings or manufacturer name . It was made out of single piece of metal which meant there was no place to

My shift used to end around 1 AM and I had my dads Bajaj Chetak to commute . But that week since the scooter broke down , I had to make alternate arrangement to reach home . I didn’t like taking hotel cab as I didn’t like going home immediately after shift .
1st night : I got hold of a call center cab to drop me home for rs 10 .
2nd night : I could not get a cab even after waiting for it for an hour . Finally I flagged down an out of service DTC bus .
The drivers are usually taking the buses from one depot to another for repair

Thread on dying profession of Delhi / North India :
1) Cotton fluffers ( Rui pinjane wale) - They used to travel from colony to colony on their cycles , carrying the fluffing instrument called Dhuinki that looked like a music instrument and made strumming noise
Sitting outside the house, they will fluff out old cotton and fill it back into mattress and rajai . This used to be annual ritual before onset of winters Image
2) Knife Grinders- Churi tez karva lo was a very familiar sales cry as they travelled across the city on their cycles , grinding knives with a instrument that was attached to the pedal of the cycle to control the speed of grinder. Every house had those big ass
