The Project HARP space gun [L] and its predecessor, the V3 from the Nazi V-weapons program. The superguns were dismantled after the war and brought to the US for study.
The predecessor of the V-3 was the Paris Gun, a product of WWI. The long-range siege gun was used to bombard Paris and produced by Friedrich Krupp A.G., the top arms manufacturer for Germany in WWI & WWII [which merged with Thyssen AG in 1999 and now makes your steel fridge]
Friedrich Krupp A.G. also produced the arms for the Thirty Years’ War after establishing an empire out of land and resources left when the Black Plague swept through Essen, the Napoleonic Wars, and many conflicts of the late 19th and 20th century.
Even after the shuttering of Project HARP the Paris Gun and Nazi V-weapons program continued to mutate, Gerald Bull who ran the project when on to work for several other countries including China and Iraq. Where he worked on an unusual project for Saddam Hussein- the Babylon gun.
Then, in 1990 Gerald Bull was assassinated outside of his apartment in Brussels.
