#ColorectalCancerAwarenessMonth ⭐️

@renehan_andrew & his team have produced world-leading research on #ColorectalCancer, involving the link to obesity & the investigation of organ preservation to avoid rectal cancer surgery.

Read about his team & their projects below 👇

Meet @NadinHawwash, a medical student intercalating on the new MB-PhD programme!

Nadin's research is part of the ABACus2 project, which is investigating the life-course exposure to body fatness & the related cancer risk!

Now it's big data time!

@lai_lana is a research associate conducting meta-analysis on a large cohort of patients (OCTOPUS Consortium) to examine the association of BMI & colorectal cancer survival.

Last year she won a #NCRI Award for her work 👏

Meet @KatParmar, a clinical PhD fellow whose research aims to improve access to potentially curative surgery in colorectal liver metastases - this is part of both @CoNoR_Study & @CLiFF_Study.

Good morning everyone 👋🏾, Julia here. Really excited to take over the @UoM_DCS twitter today. My day started a few hours ago, just counting and plating some cells for a drug sensitivity assay. - JM Image
Here’s one of my 96-well plates containing 5.33 x 10^4 ovarian cancer cells per ml. I add 200 ul PBS to the outer wells to minimise evaporation. - JM Image
Tomorrow I will treat these cells with different drug combinations. Now to start an immunofluorescence experiment! - JM
