#NIGERIADECIDES2023: THE REAL ISSUE

Yesterday, @AriyoAristotle gave a scoop on the behemoth against the smooth passage of a clean #ElectoralBill towards a clean 2023 polls. The last 24hours, one had expected vehement reactions against SP Ahmad Lawan & his led @NGRSenate, zilch.

2/ At a public hearing, Dec 9, 2020, @NGRSenate & @HouseNGR assured the #ElectoralBill 'll be passed on or before March 31, 2021.

Today is March 30, 2021, but feelers from @nassnigeria, indicate the @DrAhmadLawan-led @NGRSenate ain't committed towards a clean elections in 2023.

3/ Irrespective of the political leaning, a clean #AmendedElectoralAct should concern you. Such Act should:

- Allow @inecnigeria call for nominations at least 360days to election & submission of candidates lists not later than 6months. This solves pre-election litigation issues.

4/ - Empower @inecnigeria to accredit eligible voters using NIN
- Electronic transmission of results at 180,000 Polling Units with paper trail
- Nix & prosecute enablers of under-age voting in the North
- Empower @officialEFCC & @ICPC_PE to follow the monies for election funding.

5/ - End Vote Buying of any guise, particularly on election day. The Amended Electoral Act should empower the @PoliceNG & Attorney Generals of States to arrest, charge and prosecute vote buyers caught at any of the 119,973 Polling Units & 57,000 Voting Points across Nigeria.

6/ -Post-mortem of #NigeriaDecides2019 shows missteps & misconduct by @inecnigeria, deliberate denial of access to observers & media; logistical shortfalls; intentional disruption by politicians, political thugs & party agents & intimidation of collation staff by security agents.

7/ - The #AmendedElectoralAct must be given the legal teeth to tame the misconducts of @inecnigeria & its staff; election violence by politicians, political thugs, party agents, as well as unscrupulous security agents. Offenders must be arrested, charged & prosecuted.

8/ The abovementioned are real issues over 48million Nigerian Youths, making up 51.1% of Nigeria's 84million Registered Voters, should focus on, not how old is one @AsiwajuTinubu or his daughter. The man is even yet overcome the deadly banana peels awaiting him from his party.

9/ WAY FORWARD

Within the next three months, I expect over 48million Nigerian Youths, irrespective of the political leaning, to begin to 'bomb' the phone lines, emails constituency & Abuja Offices of their Senators & Reps, on the urgency to #PassElectoralBill.

10/ YOUTH PARTY?

Tied to the above, 2023 & beyond, I expect @MoghaluKingsley, @YeleSowore, @BankyW, @feladurotoye, @seunonigbinde, @jacksonpbn, @adeyanjudeji, @henryshield, @DemolaRewaju, @AriyoAristotle, et al, to simply follow in the footsteps of the Great Jaja Wachuku.

11/ Returning to Nigeria from Dublin, Ireland, in 1947, Jaja Wachuku in 1949, founded a radical youth movement, the New Africa Party (NAP).

His full entry into politics/leadership was in 1950 when he affiliated NAP to National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC).

12/ From 1950 until the Jan 15, 1966 first military coup in Nigeria, Wachuku went on to become Nigeria's:

- First indigenous Speaker of @HouseNGR
- First Ambassador to the United Nations @UN
- First Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Aviation Minister at the time of the 1966 coup.

13/ END- With the current realities, within the next 4 election cycles (2035), today's ruling class can never ever fix Nigeria.

Radical Nigerian Youths must quit #TwitterPolitics, affiliate their Parties with/join @OfficialAPCNg & @OfficialPDPNig.
