🚨 Dems in disarray alert 🚨

Great breakdown from @npfandos and @miwine about Democrats growing discord about their disastrous election takeover bill.

nytimes.com/2021/03/30/us/…
Great nugget — Manchin isn’t the only Democrat with serious concerns about the bill... he’s just the only one willing to say it out loud and risk “incurring the wrath of the legion of liberal advocacy groups.” Image
LOVE this piece — Democrats can basically print money with Act Blue, and wrote their bill specifically to maximize their online fundraising advantage.

Now they’re worried about other Democrats using it against them.

Phenomenal stuff. Image
Similar to @JessicaHuseman’s report in the Daily Beast — state election admins are NOT PLEASED they were not consulted when Dems wrote the bill.

This isn’t the last we’ll hear from angry state election officials. Image

Dem election officials are furious with Senate Dems' bill

✅Written with NO consultation with election administrators
✅Administrators were ignored to appease "activist bases"
✅Requires machines.. that don't exist yet

thedailybeast.com/how-this-votin…
It mandates a totally nonsecure "telephone based automatic voter registration system" that .. doesn't currently exist, that states would be required to create.

Election officials are "baffled."
It gives INCREDIBLE power to the Election Assistance Commission.

Ironically, Democrats championing this bill were the same people who harshly criticized the commission just last election cycle for horrific mismanagement.

Wow. Miles Taylor wasn't even listed on DHS's senior leadership page when NYT published his op-ed because he was just a policy advisor, not even chief of staff.

Here's a snapshot of top leadership at DHS a few weeks after the op-ed was published. (October 2018) Image
The NYT answered a bunch of written questions about why they decided to publish the op-ed, and defended the use of "senior administration official."

They used the phrase "upper echelons of an administration." But Taylor wasn't even upper echelons of DHS.

nytimes.com/2018/09/08/rea… Image
The first time Miles appears on the senior leadership page at DHS as Chief of Staff was in February 2019. Several months AFTER the New York Times published his op-ed.

He would stay at DHS until June. So he was Chief of Staff for a total of 4 months.

What a town. Image

@CalforNC’s campaign manager signaling to outside groups that they need more support to stop bleeding support among veterans.

That’s what happens when your candidate sleeps with the wives of wounded veterans and has to be investigated by the military.
Cal himself won’t do interviews or answer questions to put the scandal to rest, and local media has accused him of trying to “run out the clock.”

They’re publicly mocking him on North Carolina tv with empty chairs

But sure a few million in TV ads to lie about Tillis, who actually has a fantastic record on veterans issues will help.

Brilliant @devanb

Undermining the election you say?

✅ Schumer’s Super PAC just shared a doctored email suggesting Joni Ernst lost an endorsement (she didn’t)

✅ MI Dems doctored a video to lie about John James

✅ Jaime Harrison is trying to trick voters into voting for someone who dropped out
.@rachelgirwin is the comms director for Schumer’s Super PAC. Here she is sharing a doctored email suggesting Joni lost the Iowa Farm Bureau endorsement.

This misinformation was shared and retweeted by @davidaxelrod, @greenfield64, and several other large accounts

Good reporting here from Jake. Democrats haven’t moved an inch from Pelosi’s HEROES Act..

... which was a nonstarter for a dozen moderate *House Democrats* who attacked it as a political exercise with no chance of becoming law.

All relief is being held up for this.
Republicans are pushing for funding to safely reopen schools, direct checks for families, PPP loans, and money for testing.

Democrats say none of that can happen without paychecks for illegal immigrants, tax cuts for wealthy NYers, and environmental justice grants.
Moderate Democrats actually ran ads touting votes *against* Pelosi’s bill.

They didn’t think the pandemic was the moment to demand “diversity reports" for cannabis businesses.

But that bill is the Democrat’s red line now if you’re wondering if they actually want a deal.

5,000 is about the number of people in line at a single Trader Joe’s between 6-8 PM on a weeknight.

Nice of CNN to try and add a few more signatures though.
Just for context, here are some more successful petitions you can currently find over at change.org. (And they probably didn’t get CNN coverage)

Getting rid of Yoplait cups — 133K people!
Create Ruth Bader Ginsburg themed ice cream. 9K signatures.
