Today COVID-19 vaccination has opened for all Indian citizens above the age of 45.

There are many questions and queries coming. Trying to compile and answer few of them here. Feel free to keep on adding more #MedTwitter.

Can I get infected with even after getting both doses of COVID-19 vaccine?

Vaccines are highly effective in preventing an infection. But no vaccine can give 100% protection from getting an infection.
COVID appropriate behavior should be followed even after complete vaccination
Then why should I get vaccinated?

Vaccines reduce disease incidence in a vaccinated group compared to an unvaccinated group. How much reduction, depends on efficacy of that vaccine.

Getting a vaccine may also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19
If I get a vaccine, will I get COVID-19 from it or transmit to others?

No. Instead getting vaccinated yourself may also protect people around you.
COVAXIN or COVISHIELD, which one should I get?

Vaccine available at nearest centre to you, is the vaccine you should get currently.

Follow COVID appropriate behavior at centre, it is more crucial in current situation.
Is Pfizer vaccine better and should I wait for it?

Pfizer vaccine has more efficacy claimed by manufacturers than vaccines available in India currently.

But do not wait for any vaccine. The more you wait, more you get at risk of getting severe COVID-19 & transmitting it.
Does COVISHIELD cause clots?

'As of now, we do not know whether some or all of the conditions have been caused by the vaccine or by other coincidental factors. Benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine far outweigh its risks.' - WHO Europe director Kluge. Cont..
UK has reported only five cases despite administering 11 million doses. No any case has been reported in India.

Trust experts in your country, they are taking the best decisions for you.
Do not trust misinformation on social media. #GetVaccinated
What side effects should I expect after getting a vaccine?

Commonly people experience-

-Injection site pain/swelling /redness /itching
-Headache
-Fever
- Flu like symptoms
-Malaise/ Body ache
-Nausea
-Vomiting

Take rest and antipyretics as per advised by vaccination centre.
How can I get vaccinated?

-If you are born before 1st January 1977, register yourself on Co-WIN portal & book an appointment.

-Walk-in vaccination is also available but slots might be limited hence advised to book an appointment to avoid crowding at centres.
When should I take second dose?

COVISHIELD- between 4-8 weeks after first dose

COVAXIN- between 4-6 weeks after first dose

Now Co-WIN does not automatically schedule your second dose, you need to manually schedule as per your convenience.
I am not yet eligible for COVID-19 vaccine, what should I do?

Wait for your turn and till then help people around you to get vaccinated. Having more vaccinated people around you creates a bubble and helps to reduce risk of you getting infected.
