At the same time the Left was sneering at ordinary people for being too obsessed with money and materialism, they were using gigantic amounts of money - much of it pilfered from us through taxes and gov't spending - to destroy our society and remake it in their image.
For all their pious sermons about the Evil Dollar and rising above material concerns to achieve spiritual fulfillment, leftists are the most money-grubbing people in the world. Their "movement" is fueled by mountains of cold hard cash, not popular appeal.
One suspects the decades of leftist sermons against the sins of money and materialism were largely intended to make gullible middle-class people stop valuing their income and assets, making it easier for the Left to seize them. And seize they did, on a staggering scale.
Left-wing extremist ideas have never been popular, not even when reduced to infantile babble about giving people "free stuff" paid for by taking gold and gems from the buried treasure vaults of the Evil Rich. Those ideas are forced upon society by spending titanic sums of money.
It took TRILLIONS in government and private spending to create the neurotic, degenerate, vicious, hapless society you see all around you today. Left-wing ideas didn't catch fire and spread through the grassroots. They were forced on us at a cost of five figures per American.
Nobody would be evangelically spreading garbage like Critical Race Theory for free, out of sincere conviction. It costs BILLIONS to finance the armies of activists, government bureaucrats, corporate personnel, and educations who spread these ideas as their full-time jobs.
The amount of money poured into public schools while they degenerated into left-wing indoctrination camps was STAGGERING. So is the amount spent on government programs that push leftist ideology to adults. So is the value of decades of in-kind media and pop-culture contributions.
Now you can add the titanic corporate muscle of Big Tech and Woke Big Business to the amount of money spent on deforming society and reprogramming us. And don't forget the billions surging through both open and covert left-wing activist groups and lobbying organizations.
Every time Democrats push through some bloated spending bill, it pours millions of our tax dollars into their slush funds and propaganda machines. They never pass a bill that doesn't include huge social engineering programs. They never stop turning our own money against us.
And money has been the key ingredient all along. The left-wing assault on America was not accomplished with true believers enthusiastically spreading their ideas to willing audiences. It was the march of paid legions, financed with the coins of the conquered.
Time is money - and all of that left-wing money bought up our time. It paid for hordes of indoctrinators and enforcers - billions of man-hours of effort. You can't fight back against that with a few books and TV shows - not even with the most popular radio host in history.
The Left shrieks in outrage when its opponents gain the tiniest advantage in any form of political spending - their media turns it into a national crisis - but it's ABSURD to measure even the millions of the richest conservative donor against the trillions commanded by the Left.
It was always about money, all along, every single day, ever since the first New Left agitators began railing against other people for being too concerned with money. Money to indoctrinate, proselytize, enforce, demoralize, and destroy. Money for lefty elites to live like kings.
The vast riches and opulent lifestyles of left-wing political leaders are part of that money-ideology fusion. A career in left-wing politics can be a clear path to riches. It helps them recruit leaders and build social networks. Leftist leaders are aristocrats, not monks.
Look at those smuggled videos of left-wing indoctrination sessions for corporate and government employees. The "teachers" are boobs. Normal people laugh at the clumsy idiocy of their presentations. But they're getting paid, and there are vast hordes of them.
No idea is so transparently stupid and vicious that it cannot be spread widely and turned into orthodoxy with millions of man-hours of effort, financed by billions of dollars in spending. Big money is a weapon - a heavy club, not a nimble rapier, but effective just the same.
Few people embraced the left-wing ideas destroying America with voluntary enthusiasm. Few were persuaded. They were intimidated, indoctrinated, regulated, and simply paid off to accept this toxic ideology. It cost a thousand fortunes for the Left to buy its power. /end
