It is a despicable betrayal for KE media to perpetuate the GoK lie that people are going hungry because there is no rain. The truth is Kenyans are being starved because GoK's owners profiteer from their suffering and have consequently little incentive to fix it.

The regular crises Kenya enjoys, from debt, to power and water shortages, to famine and unsafe food, to lack of drugs and personnel in hospitals, to extortionate rents, are all deliberately engineered by owners of the colonial state to extract as much as possible from Kenyans.

GoK was the poisoned fruit of ukoloni, which today comes disguised as "independence". The colonial state lives and is at the root, not only of Kenyans' suffering, but also of their seeming inability to prevent it. It is congenitally and irredeemably corrupt and must be uprooted.

Ask why GoK is pushing for Kenyans to adopt an unnecessary and ruinous coal plant that will require us to pay its owners $1 million every day for 25 years regardless of whether it produces a single kilowatt of power.

The colonial state is the reason why Kenyans (and other former colonies) have little chance of voting their way out of problems. Putting good people in a rotten state doesn't change the state. It changes the people, as has been the lesson from nearly 60 years of Kenyan elections.

The narrative of "bad leadership" makes miros think they are the cause of their problems and renders the colonial state invisible. As with all effective lies, it's built on a grain of truth - see Kenyan rulers. But the point we miss is they were always unlikely to be different.
