Lessons I’ve learned growing a $110,000+ / month company in the last 2 years.

On building a lean, profitable, bootstrapped business:
Be T-Shaped:

Great at many things, incredible at one.

Experts can charge more than generalists.

Then, your wide knowledge base will help you pivot, diversify, and upsell.
Systems mindset:

Systems are well oiled machines that produce an expected outcome.

Treat your business like one.

Distill your knowledge into standard operating procedures; checklists, tutorials, and videos that you can delegate.
Hire for drive & innovation:

With systems in place, most any hire can produce results.

What you’re really looking for is those that take your system, tweak it with their unique perspective, and make it 10x better.
Avoid early profit stagnation:

If you’re generating profit but want to scale, sacrifice short term profits and hire.

Doing so will ignite your scale potential by allowing you to focus on growth initiatives.
Founders need focus:

Once you’ve hired, being in the day to day operations hinders you and your team.

Your new job is driving sales and building the brand.

Focus on growth: outreach, marketing, brand, community, team empowerment.
Sales is about value + timing:

Lead with a free preview of your product/service. An audit, a free account to get your foot in the door.

Don’t ask for anything in return.

Then, follow up on their experience, often. I’ve had countless prospects close 6+ months later.
The paradox of entrepreneurship:

You think it’ll liberate you from the 9-5. In reality your free time vanishes in the early stages.

Don’t worry. That’s part of the fun; a burning desire to grow your business.
Leverage resources:

Being resourceful matters 10x more than what you know now.

Nearly anything about business can be learned online or by simply speaking to people.

Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know. Be passionately curious.
Imposter syndrome:

It’s unavoidable. Embrace it.

I wasn’t an A student. Never thought I’d be an entrepreneur.

The only thing stopping you is self-doubt.

How to find good startup / business ideas [thread]:

You don't need to daydream the next big product. And you don't need a 20k email list to start.

Ideas are out there right now that are worth pursuing.

Here is how to find them 👇
1. Review Sites

Sites like G2 / Capterra host reviews on biz software & services.

Look in spaces that interest you & find what people DISLIKE about current products and services.

These aren't just negative reviews. They're opportunities to create a better solution. Image
2. Hiring trends

Service businesses are abundant, but so is market need for them.

Look at job boards and find the most commonly sought after positions.

Turn that position into an agency or freelance and you've got a curated list of potential clients in need. Image

I'll be adding to this list as I discover more from amazing creators I see on this app every day.

You need to read these ASAP 👇
1. @sweatystartup -- what entrepreneurs should focus on to gain financial freedom.

This is one of the most impactful threads I've ever read.

2. @KapilGuptaMD -- Rethinking the value we derive from schooling and how it applies to future success.

"True education occurs on the pavement, not the blackboard."
