Happy Easter to all our followers, it is the second year that most of us are unable to be with our loved ones in care, but we are grateful to all the carers and nurses working this weekend #rfr
We still have a long way to go and must ensure that #essentialcaregiver is enshrined in law, so this barbaric locking away of all those in care, young and old, can never happen again #rfr
We also look forward to continuing our work with @NCFCareForum @ageukcampaigns @Car_Abrahams @JohnCampaign @relresuk and our fellow #fivenations campaigners @ChrScotland @JulieannNally @2x2x2V and forming new parternships @CareEngland ? how about it? #rfr
Thank you also to @donnapierpoint @BunterDawn @_mark_topps @AdamDPurnell or helping us set up our care home managers group (now on WhatsApp as well - do DM to join) it good to work together looking forward #rfr
We must also take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us, we will always continue to campaign with them in our thoughts #essentialcaregiver #rightsforresidents

As an emotional week ends, we want to reflect on what has been & what still needs to be done. New 'guidance' came into affect on 8th March. We all knew it was coming, it arrived late on Thursday. Some care providers have embraced, many just ignored our campaign goes on#rfr
Over the last few months we have regularly met with
@NCFCareForum @age_uk @relresuk @JohnCampaign
and others, in partnership we have issued open letters to Government and more and continue to work together #partnersincare

Rights for Residents response to the Government’s announcement - In our view the Government's announcement is a case of the emperor's new clothes.
The huge pressure from the media, MPs, charities & Campaign groups calling on the Government to end the isolation of care home residents has forced the Government to address the fact that thousands are giving up the will to live in a pandemic of loneliness.
However, the plan falls far short of what Rights For Residents and other campaigners are calling for.Unless the Government make visiting Guidance mandatory we expect many care homes will continue to lock relatives out.

Rights for Residents was set up by Jenny&Diane in Sept last year because after a heartbreaking visits to Jenny's mum they decided enough was enough & decided to do something - there was no other campaigning - this is a sample of what they have achieved
They set up a FB page and then the petition which now has over 200,000 signatures on it change.org/p/please-let-m… - it is never too late to sign
As momentum built so did the profile - first came @ExpressGilo who kicked the campaign into the headlines
and still is working tirelessly with us today

We are so grateful to @RuthieHenshall for speaking up today about her personal experiences and about our campaign calling for emergency legislation to enshrine, in law, the rights of care home residents to have proper access to their #essentialfamilycarers ...(1)

Ruthie also spoke on @BBCBreakfast about her family’s pain as they are left unable to support her Mum. As Ruthie pointed out, every other member of society has been given the right to a support bubble yet those in care homes have endured almost a year of enforced separation...(3)

Christmas has been & gone, we are in a new year but it is all sounding & feeling very similar to where we were. This time we are ready. We are hurt, we are saddened but we are standing up for what matters and we are united with one aim to see our loved ones #rightsforresidents
Over the last week there has been a lot of anger & frustration building up. Will our loved ones get a vaccine, many still haven’t, goal posts get moved, &the gap widens between 1st/2nd vaccine, will it change the visiting guidance, will we ever see them again,no one will answer!
We hear that Covid+patients are to be discharged into care homes,again.There is a plan,does anyone know it? Where are these designated homes,how will they be managed, will staff be completely separate&where are they coming from?will our loved ones be safe? Can this happen again?
