To everyone beating the drums of #War and #Separation in #Nigeria, i need you to take a moment to read this. I will also tag handles i know can share more thought and light on this thread. This is not scaremongering, not at all, it is predominantly lessons learnt

The major reason Nigeria is not entirely up in flames right now is because everyone believes their enemy is in Abuja (or the enemy is Abuja). The moment people start thinking their enemy is their next door neighbour, feud leading to civil war starts.

And if we get to this, there are no sides anymore, everyone is on their own e.g. Ife/Modakeke in Yorubaland, Umuleri/Aguleri, Awori/Egba/Ijebu Ijaw/Itsekiri etc. Those we perceived as friends become foes overnight, everyone at each others throat baying for blood.

Separation is not as easy as it seems. So the Oodu republic people are shouting about - where will the capital be? Please go and read up on the Egba/Ijebu and then the Aworis in Ogun State. All these tribes are major tribes in one state and they don't historically see eye to eye.

I was a minor in the early 80s when the Ife/Modakeke was at its peak. I saw a few of what happened and then had first hand experience from my brother who was caught up in it. The Shagamu riots was not so far away either. The whole place was in turmoil...

Now add Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and then Lagos. We are not people given to persuasion by peaceful means, we are violent by nature especially when we don't have things our way. By the time we agree where the capital should be, there will be no people left (if we ever agreed).

I have seen some currencies being banded about as the currency of Oodua republic, Jokers!! Who agreed that? Who was consulted? Who decides that? There is as much division in each region of the country as in the country itself. I wish a lot of us rea up on history of our country

I have not added the political dimension to the mix - after this separation how do we form a government? Or would we have simply repented overnight and be masters of peaceful elections? Do we think all of these habits will simply go away? It gets worse! There will be no one left

I have also not mentioned how the separation will impact the other regions, the truth is no segment of the country will have it easy or simply be peaceful if Nigeria breaks up, most of us alive today will not be alive to see a broken up Nigeria being peaceful

Breaking up the country add no values to any part of Nigeria, i simply can't see any. Separation will not turn all the bad eggs (and God knows we have those in abundance) to good ones. Separation will not stop brothers putting hits on one another (Soludo comes to mind)

Economically, it will be a disaster! How do we resolve the telcos license? Where would they work or not work? How about the Power generation/transmission distribution? We are one and can't work together, how exactly are we going to work together if we break up?

And one more thing. All of these warmongers are thinking the external factors will warm up to the idea. What if they don't? What if they send you ammunitions instead (knowing fully well you are killing each other and they can help themselves to your resources)?

What if they support the other side and not you? What if they don't recognise your faction? Because it seems some people are of the opinion that the antidote to our collective madness is separation. A mad man is a mad man, regardless of how you call it.

If you give a mad man a new attire, it's just a matter of time before the attire becomes another rag in his collection! Best option is to stay together and confront our problems - As 1 Nation!
