started on Facebook (and Google)’s propaganda spread either directly through ads or through their powerful lobbies that it will hurt small business, journalism, etc. G and FB fight certain privacy rules because smart ones hurt their economic framework built on surveillance.
smart of Cook to again connect the dots between privacy and misinformation and extremism - these are indeed symptoms - the underlying disease sits at the intersection of competition policy and data policy where bipartisan support is growing quickly.
