Brain waves: Our brain produces 4 different types of waves depending on the activity-
Beta waves- When we are actively thinking
Alpha waves- When we are in a free flow of thought
Theta waves- When you are dreaming at night or daydreaming
Delta waves- When you are in a dreamless state
During Daytime: Our days are sometimes completely filled with activities and distractions such that we are always in a Beta wavelength.
This hardly gives our brain time to relax or go into any other wave state.
Before Sleeping: We are on our gadgets or mobile phones which again stimulate frantic beta wave activity.
Hence the brain takes a lot of time to go in the state of Delta waves- which is crucial for sleeping well.
How to stop overthinking then?
I have found a few methods which help very well to reduce overthinking and to give your thoughts a direction.
