So I signed up for the vaccine appointment queue for Hagerstown's mass vaccination site through Maryland's pre-registration site this afternoon and six hours later I got a text with an offer of an appointment for tomorrow morning, just as a data point for anyone else nearby.
I was not expecting to get one this quickly. It seems like way more people are lining up for walk-up slots than signing up for appointments.
And it's Johnson & Johnson, so I'm going to be one-and-done. This was... I am honestly a bit overwhelmed verging on disbelief. Was not expecting it to open up today, was not expecting to get an appointment right away.
I do think that there's something of a digital divide here, where I have ready access to the internet and am very online and so I was aware of the pre-registration site before it was open to me, which is part of why I'm talking about it here.

If the character in this scene were female, a lot of the same dudes praising it would say it is disrespectful of the original by reducing a world-ending cosmic horror into a horde of Flubber knock-offs and would predict the movie relies on quips, slapstick, and gross-out humor.
I'm actually heartened by this trailer because the previous ones didn't really have a comedy vibe, and given how much of this movie's framing seems to be an attempt to win back the toxic fandom, I was afraid they'd overcorrected on charges that Answer The Call was "silly".
I mean, I don't know that I understood that the male Ghostbusters was a comedy more than a serious action horror movie when I saw it for the first time as a small child in the 80s and I assume the same is true for some of those dudes.

Okay, now that I have been vaccinated, I am going to go collapse because my immune system has the Baby Yoda Disease where it does one thing and then falls asleep.

Maryland tweeps, vaccinations are open to everybody 16+ and you can snag an appointment here.onestop.md.gov/preregistration
That site is very insistent that it's not giving out actual appointments, but character limits on the tweet. It gets you on a list to be contacted for an appointment, which can happen via automated text message.
I signed up yesterday afternoon requesting a spot at the Hagerstown mass clinic (which is in what I think was the disused food court of our outlet mall) and was contacted last evening for a slot at opening time today.

So before the pandemic, I had a habit of getting out of the house once a week and going to somewhere like a bar or coffee shop or bar or library or bar and do some writing on a portable computer, to get out of the house, break up routine, and have a designated writing time.
And it was really helpful, I think for a few different reasons, but among them was having a different environment than the ones on which I just dink around doing whatever, and having the background noise and awareness that others around me were doing similar things.
Lately I have been doing semi-regular virtual coworking sessions with @brainwane, and I have found they have a similar positive effect on my ability to focus on a task. It's not the exact same experience, but the differences are more helpful than not.

Stan Lee was still publisher of Marvel Comics at the point where they put out a Captain America comic where Richard Nixon was implied to be an actual supervillain, but fake comic book geeks want to say that Ta-Nehisi Coates ruined Captain America by injecting real-world politics.
"I can't believe they would debase this leftover World War II propaganda by using it to push a message!"
These new political cartoons featuring Uncle Sam totally miss the spirit of the original handbills, which weren't about pushing a message, they were organically telling a story about how Uncle Sam needed coal and tin and meat for the brave boys overseas.

Wow, it turns out the thing that doesn't do anything but waste money and electricity isn't actually valuable. Who could possibly have seen this coming?
The thing about understanding NFTs is that it's really easy to think you *must* be missing something, because a complete understanding comes with the realization that they are wasteful and pointless, which often leaves one thinking one must have missed the pointm
People who DON'T understand NFTs will tell you very excitedly that they grant artists new rights (no) or protect rights (no), they guarantee artists get paid (no), they are permanent and irrevocable (no), they are guaranteed unique (no)... reasons to get excited that aren't true.

Playing my way through the Hitman World of Assassination trilogy via level packs in Hitman III, I basically made it through every other mission of Hitman I without non-target kills, which I think is pretty good for a first time through them.
By the time I got to the Hitman 2 levels, I had a better command of the metagame and also access to more varied starting equipment, which has so far eliminated my need to use lethal force outside the designated targets.
The big change was unlocking a blunt instrument for my possible starting equipment. Hilariously, it's a fish. Like, an actual fish. But outside of situational tool uses, the game basically treats all blunt objects the same.
