GOV. WHITMER says she asked Biden administration for more vaccine supply to deal with surging cases. They have not approved any increased supply yet. Whitmer says state is asking for more J&J shots.
GOV. WHITMER is asking Michiganders to VOLUNTARILY stop dining in for two weeks, asking high schools to go remote for two weeks, and asking youth sports to pause. Again, no orders -- a voluntary ask.
Just thinking back, this is EXACTLY what state's GOP wanted during all of the state's COVID mandates last year. No mandates -- just recommendations -- some notion that people are capable of making the right decisions. But things have been voluntary for weeks, cases are way up.
Several chances around the state to get a shot TODAY, plan for a walk-in this weekend, or to grab an appointment for next week. 38.7% of residents have received one dose. Let's improve that! Here's what we have today: 👇👇👇👇

Last day: Pfizer clinic at Ernest T. Ford Field House/Highland Park Recreation Center is open to *ALL* Michigan residents 16+ from 9a to 3p, with WALK-INS from 1-3.

LET'S TALK ABOUT WALK-INS: Today, ACCESS doled out 800+ doses at their clinic in Sterling Heights.
BUT -- many had to wait a long time, were turned away, and decided it was a bad experience. So here are some suggested walk-in vaccine clinic experience and etiquette tips:
1) Don't line up at the door of a community vaccine clinic. It's very likely a smaller venue. The staff and volunteers need people to be orderly to have an effective flow of in and out. (ACCESS had 200 people at their door two hours before the clinic opened today)
2) Utilize the clinic hours and don't show up first thing if you don't have to. Try late morning, afternoon or evening, if possible.
If everyone shows up at the same exact time, swamping staff at the clinic, of course there's going to be a wait!
