Correlation does not equal causation. But the absence of correlation most assuredly disproves it.
We now have data going back almost a year. Now that we have it this is - ultimately - the only data that matters.
All the arguments about the effectiveness of masks at preventing droplets, whether the virus spreads by droplets or aerosols and the extent to which using and reusing (quickly filthy) masks in the community...
... are only a *means* to establish whether a legal requirement to wear them makes any difference to transmission *in the community*. But now we have the data.
