Banning the hijab (& other ostentatious religious signs) in domestic sport in France is *another* example of Islamophobia being driven by state institutions under the guise of laïcité (& CT)

It is difficult to conclude anything other than the French state is targeting Muslims
ICYMI French Senate prohibited parents from wearing visible religious signs when accompanying kids on school trips

Muslim women wearing a headscarf, who volunteer to help, are being targeted

ICYMI: Here is the French interior minister stopping funding for an NGO because it defended the rights of Muslim women to wear a Burkini in the pool/sea.

ICYMI: an official French government account: "The term 'Islamophobia' was imposed by islamists with the aim of preventing all forms of criticism towards radical Islam, under the guise of a fallacious defence of the Muslim faith"

It is possible to dislike the term Islamophobia and prefer the term anti-Muslim racism without resorting to the false narrative used by anti-Muslim bigots in my the tweet above

ICYMI: Macron's Interior Minister saying Marine Le Pen is not anti-Islam enough i.e. the state needs to target Muslims who believe in mainstream Islam

Le Parisien took this at face value. Others thought it was sarcastic

ICYMI French President Emmanuel Macron has asked Muslim leaders to agree a "charter of republican values"
bbc.com/news/world-eur…
ICYMI: French Muslims who compile Islamophobic hate crimes, are not "an enemy" & using phrases like "enemy within" is very dangerous.

nytimes.com/2020/10/19/wor…
ICYMI: French senate voted that no girl under the age of 18 can wear hijab in public

ICYMI If you don't like a nude cartoon of the Prophet being shown to your children, you don't have the right to complain & if you do, you might be deported.

ICYMI: President Macron's charter will ask French Muslims to agree that Islam is a religion and not a political movement, while also prohibiting "foreign interference" in Muslim groups.

bbc.co.uk/news/world-eur…
ICYMI: Right-Wing senator declared that "We need to refuse prayers in the hallways of universities" (he implied "Muslim prayers")
ICYMI: The Interior Minister, Education Minister & Minister Delegate in Charge of Citizenship want to tackle separatism at school by targeting (Muslim) female students, accusing them of producing medical certificates in order to avoid swimming classes

ICYMI, Macron's government has:
1. Closed biggest Muslim charity
2. Dissolved biggest anti-Islamophobia group
3. Announced potential closure of dozens of mosques
4. Pressurised Imams to sign charter
Etc
Let's also not forget how the French Minister of Education accused universities of spreading "islamo-leftism" & declared American universities studying intersectionality are responsible for the rise of Islamism

The Quilliam Foundation has been closed for good. Image
ICYMI: Quilliam Foundation - co-founded by Maajid Nawaz - prepared a secret list for a top British security official accusing peaceful Muslim groups, politicians, a television channel and a Scotland Yard unit of sharing the ideology of terrorists.

theguardian.com/uk/2010/aug/04…
ICYMI: The Quilliam Foundation report on grooming gangs was one of its biggest claims to fame, where it claimed 84% of “grooming gang offenders” were Asian. This has been widely debunked by experts & a Home Office report

Bari Weiss proclaims she is proud to share a stage & show admiration to Ayaan Hirsi Ali - whose hatred for & enmity against the faith of Islam is so deep that she believes Muslims must be crushed militarily & in all forms

Appalling (albeit unsurprising) Image
It's difficult to believe Weiss is unaware of Hirsi Ali's longstanding and public hate for mainstream (not "radical") Islam & advocacy for racism targeting Muslims

Hirsi Ali calls Islam "the new fascism" & "a destructive, nihilistic cult of death"

Shawcross said: “..Islam is one of the greatest, most terrifying problems of our future. I think all European countries have vastly, very quickly growing Islamic populations"

He supported torture & the worst breaches of law in the "War on Terror"

One wonders why bother....
For those who want to see more about Shawcross and what he thinks, see this thread & it may make sense why there are few worse or more frightening people to have this role

I have had messages saying things like:

"This can't be true, they don't hate us that much do they?"

"This is truly frightening"

"This must be a kite flying exercise"

"They can't be doing this intentionally"

I guess the government genuinely doesn't care.

The Spectator publishes Islamophobia, other forms of racism and praise for the far-right & neo-Nazis - so not really surprising?
Here is a thread on some of the Islamophobia published by the Spectator

Here is a little on their promotion / praise of the far right/neo-Nazis

On the day the "think tank" he is Director of Policy is at (Quilliam), has its report on gang-related CSE (used by the far right) so clearly debunked *again*, you'd have thought he might have some humility.

But instead there is silence.
ICYMI:

Quilliam: there is an over-representation of (South) Asian men in group-based child sexual exploitation crimes
quilliaminternational.com/press-release-…

Home Office: “it is not possible" to make that conclusion
At the time, expert Dr @DrEllaC highlighted the "sheer intellectual dishonesty & irresponsibility of releasing this tripe badged as “evidence”"
