@BBCNewsnight@deb_cohen Anyone aware of #LongCovid knows that there is a natural recovery rate of ~90% by 6 months, with some recovering within days, weeks or months.
To take a single anecdote and making it representative based on anything done, thought or believed is journalistic malpractice.
@BBCNewsnight@deb_cohen We don't know why some people take weeks to recover from infections, let alone why some never do.
This is a research problem that will need a radical rethinking of medicine, precisely because of nonsense like Garner's reckless claims.
@BBCNewsnight@deb_cohen And at least be aware of what you are promoting. This is the garbage that Garner is promoting. It's junk pseudoscience and has no place in a serious debate about public health. Please do better.
@BBCNewsnight@deb_cohen There is every reason for the ME patient community to be furious about not only the poor state of research but systematic denial of care.
The criticism is fully legitimate, made by patients who are demanding their rights to humane treatments.
@BBCNewsnight@deb_cohen Because had there been high quality #MEcfs research ongoing for years, Long Covid would have been expected and medicine prepared with treatments and understanding.
The real controversy is denial. That's it. It has failed miserably, it has to end.
