1/ Hello cricket fans, Just like you, we are eagerly waiting for the IPL to begin too! While the 8 teams sweat it out on the pitches preparing for the 7-week long series.

2/ There is another team working in the background tirelessly to deliver a great customer experience to support the unprecedented sales that the businesses see during the IPL season-- the @RazorpayEngineering team!

3/ Whether you ordered food on @swiggy or @zomato or created your fantasy team on @Dream11, you experienced Razorpay. In fact, Razorpay powered more than a million transactions during the 4-hour 2020 IPL final!

4/ During the IPL finals, Razorpay traffic went up by a whopping 40x. This comes to over 60K requests flowing through our systems every minute and over a million queries on our transactional database.

5/ The peak traffic more than quadrupled between the IPL 2019 and 2020 finals. This was unheard for Razorpay and it was a true test of the resilience of our systems.

6/ After being bruised and not giving our best during the knockout phase of IPL 2019, we did not want to take any chances and we were fully prepared for IPL 2020

7/ Since 2019, Razorpay has been on a mission to scale our architecture, remove hotspots and significantly expand our ability to handle spiky traffic incoming when Rohit Sharma hits those sixes!

8/ We decided to go all-in with Golang as our de facto language of choice which eventually paid rich dividends, today we are able to comfortably handle a transactional scale of more than 1000TPS.

9/With kick-ass modes of monitoring using victoria metrics, monitoring our deployments via @spinnakerio /Kayenta, canary-based rollouts for controlled rollouts, alongside distributed tracing, we built a realtime monitoring system to be on top of things. Talk about #Hawkeye system

10/Data has been another force multiplier. Our data team built the platform to handle 25x scale. High-Throughput Low-Latency big-data pipelines were built to support applications; ML models helped us to provide better services like fraud detection & intelligent dynamic routing.

11/ With a lot of blood and sweat, there was also a lot of fun. We started our own Slack game. Here is our CEO @harshilmathur along with the team betting on traffic spikes.
