It was the second time she had to face and identify Teddy Guzman in court after a Pennington County jury couldn't unanimously decide last year whether he raped three young girls.
The girl cried when asked to identify Guzman in court. Her mother pointed at him but refused to look at him. The father, who used to be best friends with Guzman, said he wanted to kill him after his daughter said he raped her.

The girl was weepy throughout her testimony and began to cry and cover her face several times. Her parents' description of how she's changed was so sad.

“She used to be happy all the time and she’s not now,” the father said as he looked down and wiped his eyes. “She stays in her bedroom all the time, she swears all the time, she’s not the same.”

“She doesn’t want to do anything,” she just goes on TikTok at home instead of going out and talking to people, the mother said. “She just has no ambition anymore.”
The girl used to get straight-As. She's now repeating her school grade for the third time after failing twice.

I'm going through the videos on my own so it's going to be a while. Some things stand out from video one so far:
-Ravnsborg never said he searched the whole area that night. Prosecutors say his phone data shows this.
1/x
-He never said the sheriff searched the area. The prosecutors say the sheriff said he searched the area with a light. Maybe the AG forgot to mention this.
2/x
-After they find the body the next morning the sheriff tells the AG he will call DCI and the AG goes home to Pierre rather than wait to be interviewed on the scene. Why would the sheriff call DCI, not Highway Patrol?

➡️Ravnsborg's crimes and misdemeanors that caused the death of Joseph Boever on September 12, 2020
➡️Ravnsborg's statements+actions in reporting the crime and the resulting investigation.
I'm super interested in this second part, which is more about ethics and protocol than the law.
A single mom+college student in the Black Hills found a cat w/ broken bones She put a ~$2,000 bill on her card b/c he needed surgery ASAP. However she needs helping paying that bill. If you want to help, call the vet at 605-342-1368 +say you want to add to Kali Njos' account. 1/2
After an impromptu creation on forested tribal land just west of Rapid City, the camp has become highly organized with:
➡️ Large, warm army tents
➡️ A food pantry+mess hall
➡️ Meal train+transportation systems
➡️ Downtown drop site for local+mailed in donations

The camp does not have structured leadership, strict admission policies, and steps that residents must take to continue receiving services like some nonprofits do. The goal is to keep people alive and safe, treat residents with dignity and avoid criminalization.

How my week is going: Last night for “dinner” I ate an entire jar of Talenti mint chocolate chip gelato, nearly an entire jar of pickles and some watermelon with Tajin.
As @stephengroves noted, the National Guard was called out for a protest on the road to Mount Rushmore that was an act of civil disobedience but not violent until the Guard arrived. Only violence from protesters after Guard arrived was pushing back against+hitting shields. 1/x
Protesters say this was self defense, not violence. They never did things like tackled police, throw things at cops, damage police cars. There were no guns. One shield was stolen and vandalized. 2/x
Protesters including @NickTilsen say this response to a non-violent protest was unnecessary, disproportionate + escalated things. Tilsen is trying to obtain documents related to the deployment, plans and action of the Guard and law enforcement that day:
