THREAD: A case study in of how the Russia Today > Grayzone > Glenn Greenwald > Jimmy Dore > Tucker Carlson disinformation pipeline works to target progressive public figures like @AOC.
An employee of the Russian state media made the claim that she was visited by police after criticising AOC on twitter. She gave this as an example of the congresswoman's intolerance for dissent & pro-establishment ways. Except, there was no evidence AOC had anything to do with it
The story was quickly written up by Grayzone and Glenn Greenwald amplified it, and soon it was picked up by Jimmy Dore. All have huge audiences and soon a nothingburger was turned into a storm in the red-brown tea-cup.
And, of course, Glenn Greenwald's amplification brought it to the attention of one of his most avid readers—Tucker Carlson. Carlson brought on Greenwald's comrade Dore to the show, where among other things @AOC was mocked for making an incoherent statement on Israel Palestine.
Interestingly, the mockery had started with Dore, Greenwald & Grayzone. According to them AOC was waffling to avoid taking a moral position on Palestine. Carlson played the same clip, also mocking AOC for waffling, but in his view she's using it to hide her anti-Israel sentiments
In other words, AOC's actual position is secondary to both parties' concerns. They have joined together in criticising her, even though they are criticising her from polar opposite positions. So: this has nothing to do with Palestine. They just want to bash AOC.
Correction: the Soapbox (Russian state media) employee identifies as male. My apologies for misgendering him. I don't know the person and there were no pronouns on his profile.
But to give you an indication of how much of an overlap there is between the anti-Democratic, pro-Kremlin, pro-CCP, pro-Assad camps, the Russian media employee is now amplified by the pro-Assad Youtuber Richard Medhurst, who in turn is being retweeted by Tara Reade.
