1/7. On Sunday 11th April, I had the satisfaction of great leadership after successfully hosting a WOMEN OF MOMBASA OPEN EDUCATIONAL FORUM at the Renaissance Centre. @jasudan@UGMParty@COEC_MSA@UAFAfrica@MohaJichoPevu
2/7. The forum was attended to by 60 women, drawn across all sub counties with each Sub county represented by 20 women each. Many other women joined virtually through our live transmission on Social media platforms.
3/7. In a beautiful african themed set up, The theme discussion was to adopt traditional behavourial practises into modern morals & how aspects of culture, religion & modern morality can be a foundation for more resilient & empowered women.
4/7. The facilitation also included civic-legal education on matters sexual abuse, legal aspects of marriages, legal aspects of divorces and how to come up with frameworks for accessible legal aid.
5/7. On the open forum, attendees discussed issues, asked legal queries, were advised, given appropriate spiritual and legal guidance as well as contacts collected for further assistance.
6/7. The event had a Conclusion topic on civic education in regards to electoral decisions as we gear up to make better democratic choices come 2022.
1/5. As a person living with a disability(PWD), i speak from experience when i say that all the DONT's on Covid-19 are my Do's.
We are discouraged from touching surfaces, as a PWD i need those surfaces for support. @MwauraIsaac1@UGMParty@jasudan
2/5. We are advised 2 avoid unnecessary contact, but with contact is how i am able to do my day to day basic movements and activities.
And those two examples are just a few of many.
Access to medical services is still a challenge, access to tools is an even bigger challenge
3/5. Relief programs for PWDs are far fetched because it is distributed in centres that are not easy to access or reach.PWDs rely on support from family members and well wishers which greatly reduced because of the tough economic times everyone is going through @apdkdisability
