Good evening & thank you for joining me today as I provide a few very important updates regarding our State’s mitigation measures. You can view the live stream of my updates here: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2
On April 5, we opened up vaccine eligibility to all Nevadans 16 & older & I remain incredibly proud of the continued federal, state & local partnerships that are helping us increase access, focus on equity & ensure that Nevadans are protected.
As of today, about 40% of Nevadans 16 & older have started the vaccine process & 25% of Nevadans 16 & older are fully vaccinated. This is tremendous news – but we are not done yet - We will continue working around the clock to make sure we are reaching Nevadans where they are at.
I am pleased to announce that I am confident EVERY county in the State of Nevada will be able to fully reopen at 100 percent capacity by JUNE 1!
After extensive conversations with state health officials, & with the goal to reopen to 100% capacity across Nevada by June 1, we will remove the Statewide required social distancing mandate as of May 1.
It is also important to note @NevadaGCB will continue to maintain authority over gaming licensees within the State of Nevada, including capacity limitations within properties.
I am proud of @NevadaGCB efforts as they continue to work alongside casino owners, local leaders, & employee unions to set up vaccination sites on gaming properties in order to keep our workers protected & help our State recover from this pandemic.
The statewide mask mandate will remain in place throughout this transition - Outside of getting vaccinated, it’s still the best tool we have to prevent the spread.
As of May 1, decisions over mitigation measures within our schools will also now be transitioning to county school districts – that includes social distancing.
.@NVSupt, @NevadaReady, & our county school districts have worked tirelessly to get our kids back to the classroom & keep everyone as safe as possible - This includes setting up testing, contact tracing, & being one of the first states to prioritize educators for vaccination.
In March, the @COVID19Tracking that follows #COVID19 data nationwide reported that NV has the lowest % of #COVID19 deaths that occurred in long-term care facilities in the continental U.S - This should make us all proud!
We know that #COVID19 impacts our vulnerable population particularly hard &, sadly, 83% of NV’s #COVID19 deaths are among those aged 60 & older - In November & December, 61% of hospitalizations were among those aged 60 & older.
Today, I am proud to say, 65% of Nevadans aged 60 & older & 75% of Nevadans 70 & older have initiated or completed vaccination. As older Nevadans get vaccinated, the proportion of confirmed #COVID19 cases within these age groups has decreased.
As of April 5th, Nevada is receiving an average of 74,000 #COVID19 vaccine doses each week which will allow for more appointments & more providers to have the vaccine for their patients.
A safe & responsible reopening is the path forward to bringing back our economy -This is how we ensure NV doesn’t spend the next decade crawling forward, but instead, sprinting forward to create a better, healthier & more prosperous State for all.
In order to reach this goal, everyone must play their part - Wear a mask, stay home when sick, get tested, & get the vaccine as soon as possible - For more information go to NVcovidfighter.org or call the hotline at 800-401-0946. #3MillionReasons
It’s what we do now that will allow us to return to more normal Nevada on June 1 - Nevada, we can do this. Let’s meet this goal and come back stronger, together - Thank you

Today I will be providing important updates on Nevada's COVID-19 response. Follow along on twitter & click the link below to tune in now: youtube.com/channel/UC3DFs…
First: an update on vaccinations. A little over a month ago I asked @NVNationalGuard, @NVEmergencyMgmt & the State Immunization Team to work together to identify challenges and implement solutions. The progress and results have been remarkable.
Earlier this week, FEMA released a report saying that, “Nevada continues to perform among the top in the country in administering the states allocation of vaccine.”
Today, I am pleased to once again be joined by Candice McDaniel and Shannon Bennett, from the State’s immunization program. You can view the live stream of my updates here: youtube.com/channel/UC3DFs…
Before I begin, I want to take a brief moment of silence to honor the Capitol Police officers who lost their lives as a result of the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol building last week. These men spent their lives protecting the halls of our democracy.
As I said last week, the chaos that erupted at the U.S. Capitol was the opposite of patriotic. It was undemocratic and un-American.
I wanted to provide you a few important updates as we prepare for 2021. Today, I am pleased to once again be joined by Shannon Bennett, from the State’s immunization program. You can view the live stream of my updates here:
As we have said from the start, this is a dynamic and fluid situation & we learn more and more from the federal government each day about this vaccine rollout
I am proud to report that as of Tuesday 25,636 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered & reported to NV Web-IZ
So far, we have seen smooth deliveries, with a successful rollout of the complex process to redistribute vaccine doses across our great state, and our local health districts and hospitals immediately went to work on lining up their folks to get the vaccine.
Good afternoon my fellow Nevadans. We are at a critical point in our State, and I have important updates to share with you all. You can view the live stream of my updates here: youtube.com/channel/UC3DFs…
On Friday night, the FDA granted emergency use authorization of the Pfizer vaccine and this morning, the Western States Panel tasked with reviewing the vaccine signed off as well. We anticipate receiving the first shipment in the State early this week.
The State team has worked closely with our partners. Plans are in place to distribute the 1st allocation of the Pfizer vaccine to our frontline health care workers for immediate vaccination, & staff and residents in our skilled nursing facilities as soon as possible.
The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup today completed their concurrent & thorough review of the federal process & has confirmed the Pfizer Vaccine is safe & efficacious. The Workgroup provided their confirmation to the Governors of CA, NV, OR & WAS this morning
Washington, Oregon & Nevada joined California’s COVID-19 Scientific Safety Review Workgroup in October, which has worked concurrently & independently to review the FDA’s actions related to COVID-19 vaccinations.
They will continue to evaluate other COVID-19 vaccines after they are routed through FDA authorization. The panel is made up of nationally acclaimed scientists with expertise in immunization and public health.
Good afternoon. Thank you for being here. You can follow along today's press conference on YouTube here: youtube.com/channel/UC3DFs…
Today, I am glad to provide you all with an update as we prepare for a COVID vaccine, which we anticipate may be available in the next week or so in limited doses. There is hope on the horizon, but it will take time to make sure everyone has access to the vaccine.
Federal officials have widely reported that we won’t see largescale vaccination throughout America until the spring. So we need a bridge to get there. Here in NV, that bridge between today & the day we have large scale vaccination must be built by all of us.
