Question for the #WFH crowd, technically this is #marchbreak in Ontario; pre covid, this would be a quiet meeting week out of respect for parents of young kids and general family time. But not this year...1/
I have more meetings and calls this week than average which is fine for me as my kids are out of school, but what exactly are parents of young kids doing this week? Shouldn’t we all have hit a bit of a ‘pause’ button? Which leads me to another question...2/
If the kids are not going back to in person learning next week, but parents all have to work, whether from home or in factories, warehouses, processing plants, who exactly is looking after the children? Has the whole province magically time travelled back to the 1950’s? 3/
It seems impossible to me that in 2021, every household with young kids would have a parent or caregiver available to manage the online learning and childcare that is now being required of Ontario families. I get the health and safety concerns re in person learning...4/
But the situation just doesn’t make sense, if it’s a stay at home order and the kids have to stay home, the parents should as well, with compensation. Let’s take this lockdown seriously and get it done. Give the vaccine rollout a chance to have an impact. #onpoli #COVID19
