As the dead pile up in Gujarat, the state’s media is on a warpath with the government over Covid-19

The climb in India’s cases is ferocious, and, deaths despite the average age being 35yrs

But take the official death figures with a large pinch of salt.
scroll.in/article/992217…
In Gujarat State alone they reported 67 Covid deaths on Tuesday, but it turns out they only record those where Covid is the leading cause of death and anyway the figures make no sense.
In Ahmedabad the official state figure for Covid dead on 12 April was 20. But a journalist sat outside the Covid hospital (for 1200 patients!) from midnight to 5pm on 12th and counted 63 bodies being moved from the morgue.

Just one hospital in one town in Gujarat.
And people have been taking videos of the cremations and burials.

The official deaths cannot simply be explained away given they have risen way beyond official figures as Covid has accelerated so fast. The rates are so high the worst is yet to come.

Rapid Covid testing in England may be scaled back over false positives

As of today, someone who gets a positive LFD result in (say) London has at best a 25% chance of it being a true positive, but if it is a self-reported test potentially as low as 10%
theguardian.com/world/2021/apr…
This is based on an optimistic assumption about specificity - or as low as 2% (on a more pessimistic assumption).

This is from leaked emails from a Hancock advisor, says the Guardian.
Figures produced by government officials estimate that currently only one in 10 positive results are likely to be accurate in London and south-east and south-west England, where there is less Covid-19 in circulation.

Over 400 financial firms in Britain have shifted activities, staff & a combined trillion pounds ($1.4 trillion) in assets to hubs in the EU due to Brexit, with more pain to come
marketscreener.com/quote/currency…
This is from a study from New Financial think tank.

"We think it is an underestimate and we expect the numbers to increase over time: we are only at the end of the beginning of Brexit”

I have to say it might not have been expected by some, but it certainly was by others
A bit more information in this short report.

Second Cabinet Office adviser hired by Greensill while in civil service | Politics | The Guardian

Eh⁉️

“Former Morgan Stanley banker David Brierwood was brought into the heart of government during David Cameron’s administration in 2014...”

theguardian.com/politics/2021/…
That’s “the same year Greensill’s founder Lex Greensill apparently took on a similar role. Two months later, Brierwood was recruited to join Greensill Capital’s board as a director.

Brierwood remained a Greensill director throughout the rest of his Whitehall appointment”
That “lasted more than three and a half years, according to his LinkedIn profile, which also showed that he resigned from the supply chain finance firm in February this year.”

When the wheel was clearly coming off.

Slow slow hand clap.

By restructuring this way it is thought that Gupta’s companies were able to access £billions in Covid loans via Greensill

The Gov refuses to put precise sums on it citing confidentiality.

Sorry.

It is taxpayer money and I think we are entitled to know how much they risked Image
Wasn’t Gupta/ Liberty steel lent £millions previously in the Liberty Steel “save”?

Liberty owns 12 steel plants in the UK including in Rotherham, Motherwell, Stocksbridge, Newport and Hartlepool and provides over 5k jobs within the business, many high paying skilled jobs.
These are often in areas where they are otherwise in short supply, commanding a wage more than 25% above the national average.

The country has lost its mind

“Andrew Cumpsty sits on the Government’s Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (Acoba), the group that polices appointments of former ministers and civil servants to jobs in the private sector to guard against conflicts of interest.”
“Mr Cumpsty, who counts housing developers amongst his firm’s clients, runs a communications company and a business lobby group that boasts of its connections to ministers and Conservative Cabinet members.”

How did that appointment ever happen?

Who made it?

What checks?
Crikey AND Eric Pickles who heads up the ACOBA forgot to mention his presidency of The Enterprise Forum, which boasts of its access to government ministers, aims “to improve the quality and flow of information between the business community & the Conservative Party”.

Are those still living also still in denial?
newsweek.com/covid-19-denie…
Gaarder was a prominent conspiracy theorist and regularly promoted views that COVID-19 was comparable to a cold.
In a March 18 post on his Facebook page, Gaarder said: "What could be the reason for the measures 'to prevent infection' for something that will be like a cold or mild flu? Could it be to camouflage that coronavirus is not transmitted from person to person?"
