We are running a democracy and system of governance we cannot afford. A system that is way too expensive for our income to cover. We need to start having the hard conversations to restructure along the lines of governance we can afford otherwise, we will sink deeper into debt.
This is not an easy conversation to have because it means, we may need to craft a new constitution or devolve power from the center to regions or close some State govts & Parliaments. It means some people in govt agencies may have to lose their jobs so we can cut govt overheads.
Without going into too much specifics, according to @BudgITng non-debt recurrent expenditure for Half Year 2020 was 32% higher than Half Year Revenue. When you add debt servicing, total recurrent exp spikes to 126% above revenue. If we consider that non-debt recurrent expenditure
....is mainly to fund the Federal Public service which represent less than 1% of our population, then you get the idea why this must change. The case is not better in States as well. We are in a debt death-spin that is likely to consume everything in sight if we don't act fast.
What is needed is courage. Courage to confront these difficult issues. Nigerians must be educated on the complexities of the issues. They must ask hard questions & demand answers. Political Parties looking to inherit this quagmire must be elected on their stand on restructuring.
If we cannot afford this American style democracy, then we must have the courage to say so. We must have the courage to craft the kind of democracy that works for us, especially one we can afford.

“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” ― Coco Chanel

It is no longer news that headline inflation in Nigeria increased from 17.33% in February to 18.17% in March. I know many are feeling very concerned right now (we should be tbh) but relax, it is not without remedy. Fix the food crisis and the inflation rate will come down.
I would have been more concerned if the rise in inflation is linked more to imported inflation than local food prices. That is obviously not the case even with imported food index in the CPI, meaning it's within our control to do the necessary to stem the tide of rising inflation
That said, I have another concern, one that I believe @nigerianstat should be looking at. It has to do with our CPI weight. At the moment, the CPI basket in Nigeria is weighted based on a 2009 revision of the 2003/2004 National Standard of Living Survey. i.e. 2009 is the base yr.

Turn your loss into gain (2)

‘Prove by the way you live that you have…turned to God.’
Matthew 3:8 NLT
1. When Israel’s leaders turned to Jephthah for help, they were in distress & wanted to ‘use’ him. So Jephthah said, in essence, ‘Let’s get an understanding of the type of relationship we’re going to have.’ At that point he negotiated with them & ended up in a top leadership spot
2. When your trust has been violated, you need to forgive. By doing so, u set yourself free. But you must exercise wisdom in how to move forward. God doesn’t expect u to put yourself in a position to be hurt again. Perhaps you’ve heard the story of the guy who went to the doctor

Turn your loss into gain (1)

‘Jephthah…was a mighty man of valour, but he was the son of a harlot.’
Judges 11:1 NKJV
1. Jephthah was the illegitimate son of a man called Gilead. His mother was a prostitute. He grew up in the household of Gilead’s other legitimate sons who later chased him away. ‘“You'll not get any of our father’s inheritance,” they said’ (v. 2). So he ended up living in a cave
2. While there, he took a band of misfits and rebels and developed them into a great army. When the Ammonites threatened Israel, the elders turned to him for help. ‘But Jephthah said to them: “Aren’t you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father’s house? Why do you come..

You must respond with grace

‘You must grow in…grace.’
2 Peter 3:18 NLT
1. How do we overcome past hurts in relationships? How do 2 people combine separate & unique perspectives to create a satisfying & loving relationship? There’s a very special ingredient called ‘grace’ that must be added to the mix. It calls for extending to the other person the..
2...other person the same grace that God extends to you. It bandages broken people & permits the defeated to develop winning ways to escape their pasts. It gives strength to those who struggle to be functional in areas where historically they’ve been dysfunctional. Grace restores

Generational blessings

‘For the promise is unto you, and to your children.’
Acts 2:39 KJV
1. Every family has unique and different strengths. And you can give an inheritance to your children by passing on the values, insight, and love that got your family as far as it is today. Having a sense of your history can inspire in them a desire to perpetuate the greatness.
2. You need to tell them how you made it over your Jordan River into your promised land. You need to pass on the generational blessings that helped your family for yrs. It's necessary to highlight each family member’s gifts. There’s something in each person that makes him or her

Someone invites you to be the trustee of an org and you accept with glee thinking it's a prestige position. I laugh in Itsekiri😂. What you don't know is that you're being setup to be held accountable & responsible for the actions of the org. Think am well O before you say Yes O!
If that organisation is being dragged to court, it is your name that will be on the court summons. If the government has an issue with the activities of the organisation, it is you they will call not the founder or GO or Imam. You hold by law the Fiduciary responsibilities.
So before you say YES!

1. Ask Questions. What are the objects of this organisation? How will it be funded? Who are the likely funders? Who are the members?

2. Request for documents. e.g. the draft Constitution, agreements etc. What you're doing is matching answers to documents
