2/6. no matter the crime, you now become a financial supporter of the courts. You may qualify for a court appointed attorney that is overworked & underpaid. The way the system is set up, you’re more likely to take a plea deal to avoid a jury deciding your fate.
3/6. You’re already seen as guilty & a plea deal is likely your best way to make it all stop. Upon taking the plea deal, you’ll likely have to pay your court appointed attorney fees, court costs, fines, & if put on probation, you’re paying for
4/6. that too. The pending charges & the time spent going to court hearings, that are often continued, reduce the amount of money you make. The plea deal leaves you with a record that will continue to impact your ability to make money. If you fail to pay a fine or your
5/6. probation you’ll be arrested again. You may end up in jail where you’re not going to make any money. If you have a family to support, you’re paying the court system instead of supporting your family. This can quickly become a never ending
6/6. cycle that ends up leading to a life of crime because our justice system is anything but just.
That arrest starts to look like one more thing you can’t afford & avoiding it is all you want to do.
