But instead of shame, there is pride in these hateful, cruel laws that don't solve any actual problems. They exist solely to remind innocent kids how much powerful people hate them and are willing to crush them to score political points with bigots.
It's disgusting. You cretins.
This is addressed as well to the handful of Democrats in state government who support these hateful laws. Be damn ashamed.
Also, obviously that 40% doesn't include the successful suicides, of which there have been many.
From the @TrevorProject: "Each episode of LGBT victimization, such as physical or verbal harassment or abuse, increases the likelihood of self-harming behavior by 2.5x on average."
This hateful legislation that Republicans are using to attack trans kids to gin up support among bigots nationwide writes bullying into law and gives a rubber stamp or approval for (and in some cases mandates) bullying and harassment of trans kids.
That hate kills. Be ashamed.
At least Mississippi Republicans nixed the genital examines portion that was initially part of our anti-trans hate bill here (which several Democrats either voted for or at best didn't vote against).
Florida Republicans just went full steam with the hate & harassment.
