A measure of where we are in the Missouri GOP pre-primary to replace Roy Blunt in the Senate. If we thought the GOP was moving back toward anything remotely resembling reality, guess again. Thread 🧵/1
Rep. Jason Smith is gunning for the “Biden’s Not My President” with daily take-downs of policies that have 70% approval among the voting public. Four years of kissing Trump’s orange piles seems to be paying off. He’s garnered an audience with some of Q-elite in elected office.
Rep. Ann Wagner has staked out the Bible verse, pro-life fan club. But occasionally she likes to remind voters that her pro-life ideology stops where her support of the pro-murder, “everyone gets a death machine” second amendment starts. Irony 🚨 she’s also anti-human trafficking
MO AG Eric Schmitt, riding the wave of having helped recruit for the insurrection, is fashioning himself a “fighter” suing everyone from China to our own federal government. He’ll fight for you, unless that you’re a Missourian who was defrauded by the Trump campaign.
Rep. Vicki Hartzler representing the “border” district MO-4 (shown below) has been stoking the fears of an invasion of immigrants into middle Missouri. Clearly, she sees the path to victory in a “Mexican are rapists” agenda and assumes her voters can’t read a map.
Eric Greitens is just carrying on as if he never sexually assaulted a women or misused assets from his charity for his political career or laundered dark money to circumvent campaign finance laws. Like 2018 was some kind of Thanos blip in his political career.
Lastly, we have Billy Long. He’s carried Trump’s water for 4 years and sucked up to him like no other Missouri politician even carrying around a mock $45 bill with Trump’s mug on it. His Twitter feed has become a non-stop Fox News and conspiracy re-tweet machine.
To be clear, not all of these folks have declared their run. Some are still testing the waters to see how much crazy 💩 they’re gonna have to shovel in order to garner those sweet insider-trading tips that come with a seat in the Senate.

I was listening in the car to @Timodc on @DeadlineWH and he said something about Republicans that I’ve been saying about our Missouri legislature for awhile - it’s just a game to them. /1
The GOP holds a supermajority in Missouri’s legislature. Instead of addressing the very real problems in our state, the bills they propose are parodies of the farthest right wing wish list. The more a piece of legislation triggers the libs, the better./2
Voter ID and restrictive early voting? Sure, why not. Banning IUDs and the morning after pill? You got it. Requiring medically unnecessary pelvic exams for women seeking a medication abortion? Absolutely. Attacking transgender kids and their families? Hell yeah. /3

Neither the police or the paramedics gave the chief resident information about Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck. This means the physicians had no idea an accurate length of time that blood flow to Floyd’s brain had been comprised. #ChauvinTrial
Physician who treated Floyd on the importance of immediate CPR: “Any amount of time a patient spends in cardiac arrest without immediate CPR markedly decreases the chance of a good outcome. Approx. 10-15% decrease in survival for every minute that CPR is not administered.”
By not immediately starting CPR or allowing bystanders to begin CPR, the officers decreased the chance of George Floyd’s survival - no matter the precipitating event.

One thing that might be hampering vaccine supply/demand in Missouri is that the vaccine is being distributed by percentage of population. However, the priority populations (based on Missouri’s Phases and Tiers) are NOT proportionately distributed throughout the state. /1
The disparities I’m going to focus on fall along two main categories: Employment classifications and race. First, let’s deal with employment classifications. Currently eligible for vaccination in Missouri are people in the following jobs: /2
But as you can see from these maps pulled from the BLS, employment in these occupations are not evenly distributed throughout Missouri. /3

There are 388 openings for COVID-19 vaccinations between now and Sunday at the following HyVee locations:

In the St. Louis area, there are 10 appointments for COVID-19 vaccine in the next three days at the Walgreen’s on Halls Ferry Rd and another 9 appointments available at the #9 Chambers Rd location.
Chambers Road address is incorrect in above tweet. It is 2202 Chambers Road

Second only to the Big Lie, the next biggest lie that Republicans tell voters is that they represent the little guy, that they’re looking out for the forgotten man. (A thread)
Shielding employers who risk their workers lives during a pandemic.
Stripping consumers of the right to sue businesses, churches, nursing homes and healthcare providers for wrong-doing during a pandemic which can result in life-long disability, death and thousands of dollars of medical bills.

My parents are in their 70s. Neither with any college. Dad barely graduated high school. Both independent voters. Neither of them needed to research Hawley to know that he was trouble. /1
I’m glad people are finally starting to properly vet Josh Hawley. I can forgive voters for not having the time or resources to delve into Hawley’s history. But it’s tough for me to forgive people like frmr Senator John Danforth or frmr Ambassador Sam Fox. /2
Tough to forgive never-Trumpers who mused in 2018, that Hawley, like Nikki Haley, would be the future of a resuscitated, post-Trump GOP; that Hawley might return the GOP to true conservatism. /3
